The sword of the day is the pandat.
The pandat, also known as the parang pandit, is a sword from the Dayak people of Borneo, in Indonesia. Many Dayak weapons doubled as tools, but not this one; the pandat was strictly a war sword. The single edged, backward-angled blade was a powerful chopping weapon. Interestingly, several examples of the weapon I found did not seem to include any sort of covering on the handle of the weapon, instead leaving the tang thick and bare, and inserting an iron crosspiece through it to act as a crossguard.
