Ribhu Gita from Chapter Two

The Appearance Is Not the Whole Story
Some of you believe I am delusional or disconnected from reality because of the way I speak about consciousness. That conclusion makes sense if you assume I am denying the world you experience every day. I am not. I am not saying that what you see, hear, smell, taste, touch, or feel internally is unreal. Those experiences undeniably occur. They shape your life, your relationships, your joys, and…
The primary ways sunlight affects neurotransmitter pathways include:
Serotonin ("The Mood Stabilizer"): Sunlight exposure increases serotonin turnover in the brain. Increased brightness stimulates the optic nerve, sending signals to the brain that boost serotonin levels, helping you feel calm, focused, and emotionally stable.
Melatonin ("The Sleep Regulator"): Sunlight exposure halts daytime melatonin production. Conversely, when the sun goes down and photons are removed from the eyes, the brain’s pineal gland releases melatonin to induce sleep.
Dopamine ("The Motivation Molecule"): The release of dopamine is directly triggered by exposure to bright natural light. Morning sun is particularly important for this pathway, helping you wake up with energy and drive.
Glutamate ("The Learning Chemical"): Ultraviolet (UV) rays interact with the skin to produce urocanic acid, which crosses the blood-brain barrier and is converted into glutamate. This pathway has been linked to enhanced learning, motor learning, and long-term memory.
Beta-endorphins ("Natural Painkillers"): Exposure to UVA and UVB rays stimulates the production of beta-endorphins in the skin, promoting pain relief and a sense of wellbeing.
What would possible exist without the Sun?
Podcast Episode: THE METAPHORS OF VEDANTA
Pip: If you have ever stared at the ocean and thought, “yes, this explains everything,” you may already be halfway through a Dippack Mistri post. Mara: This episode covers one extended piece of philosophical writing — Vedantic metaphors, what they actually point to, and where they run out of road. Pip: Let’s start with the metaphors themselves. The Metaphors of Vedanta — What They Point…
