Street tacos are so good that I do tend to neglect brick & mortar Mexican restaurants like El Paisa. The offerings at El Paisa isn’t too different from a street food vendor. The restaurant has been open since 1993. Prices are very reasonable (lower than average). The food is Mexico City style.

The menu includes sopes, tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, huaraches, burritos, cemitas, and aguas frescas. The corn tortillas are made by hand.

Adobada (pork) huarache ($6.99): the huarache (made with masa dough and shaped like a sandal) was a good size and topped with creamy refried beans, small pieces of seasoned pork, shredded iceberg lettuce, and lots of cojita cheese. A spicy red salsa was served on the side. The pork was tender and flavorful. The huarache was crisp on the bottom. The bottom kept separating from the top of the huarache for some reason. The salsa was quite spicy (big plus).

One woman took the orders cooked the food to order, bussed the tables. There are only three tables and a counter.

There is a $1 fee for credit card transactions.
