At its core, writing an OP character is an act of reclaiming agency. In a world where we often feel small or constrained by circumstances beyond our control, stepping into the shoes of a character who can reshape reality, command the elements, or stand toe-to-toe with gods is incredibly cathartic.

A self-insert who possesses immense power isn't just a power fantasy. They are often a vessel for processing personal desires for protection, justice, or freedom. When a character isn't limited by standard power levels, the story can shift away from "Can they win?" to "What will they choose to do with that victory?" This opens doors to complex moral dilemmas and philosophical explorations.

The most common criticism of OP characters is that they remove tension. However, when you embrace the power, the nature of the conflict simply evolves. Instead of external physical threats, the story shifts toward internal and systemic challenges:

When a character has the power to fix everything, the choice of where to intervene becomes a heavy burden. The conflict lies in the consequences of their actions and the potential for unintended harm. How does a world-breaker maintain a relationship with those who are fragile by comparison? Exploring the isolation of being too much for the world around you provides deep, character-driven drama. For characters where power is inherent to their being, the struggle often involves maintaining one's identity and humanity (or villainy) against the vastness of their own capabilities.

Creating an OP self-insert is a way to bridge the gap between ourselves and the stories we love. It is a declaration that we belong in those worlds, not just as observers, but as pivotal forces of nature. OP characters often act as a catalyst for change in established canons, forcing the world to react to a new, immovable object or an unstoppable force.

When you create characters who exist on a higher plane, you aren't just writing a story. You are worldbuilding. This level of world-building requires a sophisticated understanding of balance, even if that balance is tilted heavily in the character's favor.

To everyone crafting the too strong, the too fast, and the all-powerful. Keep going. Your OCs and self-inserts are valid expressions of your imagination. You don't need to nerf your characters to satisfy a traditional idea of balance that is better left in the early 2000s.

The bond between a creator and an OP character is often one of the strongest because that character carries our highest aspirations and our most secret strengths. Whether they are navigating the complexities of a platonic brotherhood or standing as one half of a power couple, their strength is a reflection of your creative courage.

To start, one should know the different between Escorpio and Asterion. Asterion was the first son of The Creator, the entity who created the universe in the first place. [Basic name, I know, but I haven’t found something better]. Asterion is known as ‘Father Star’, as he quite literally sires all of the stars scattered amongst reality, who act as prophets and play an important role in the upkeep of the universe. [Asterion has got some very important nut lmfao]. The more intricate details of the first gods and the universe’s early life are still being worked out.

Asterion lived on Rebion, the first of the Skorpios, a species of merchants and traders who inhabit the city of Soleil. They are a very open race, their society focused heavily on intimacy in the most non-freaky way possible. I’m not going to get into their society that deeply.

All was well until Chiron aided in reviving The Creator—freeing Cthulhu, creating The Argo, and [eventually] working out a deal with Tiamat to aid in their return to power. Asterion was left on a rotting Rebion, now turned into an endless labyrinth of which he spent eons traversing alone and feral.

Escorpio—called 003 and eventually Kitty [by Ozone and ‘cons]—was born after Chiron fused with The Creator, taking Asterion’s body and wiping out his being, returning him to a calf and raising him as his own weapon for future use in his conquering of existence.

Most of the details from this post actually still apply ability-wise.

Jumping back to Asterion: as aforementioned he fathers the stars. He mates with a mortal host, and they will give birth to his children. These children are stars, living as demigods until their time comes to transform into the giant, holy balls of gas we know. Once their time comes, they will often pair with a system of deities to help provide conditions for life for their mortals. Black holes are stars who have been tainted with The Creator’s evil, working the opposite effect and instead causing harm.

Io and Orion are two of Asterion’s sons—Ophiotaurus brothers who inhabit Zephyr [I will post art of these two later]. The demigod lifetime of a star can last for however long, it’s ultimately unpredictable.

Escorpio eventually continues Asterion’s job later into his life, after the main events of The Occasus. I am still playing with these details as well. He has his two daughters, Seraphis Ignis and Vento Irae, who were actually born of Sub-Reality 0001’s version of Escorpio. They were raised for the most part by that sub-reality’s Ozone and 002, before living full time with the original Escorpio after they started showing signs of godhood.

For some reason many details of his lore are escaping me.

More miscellaneous facts then ig:

He inhabited Cybertron for a while, Chiron was still adjusting to literally being existence itself, and their conquering took a break on the planet. He lived under the guise of an experiment created by a strange mech called Power Outage, Chiron’s Cybertronian body, and eventually fell deeply in love with a retired Decepticon Commander, Ozone. I’m debating with their lore right now, and how I want things on Cybertron to go down but essentially after Chiron’s methodical grooming stopped working on 003, he used him to have Ozone assassinated, sending the poor guy into what I can only describe as a sort of psychosis. He would sit in his cell and rip at his flesh, essentially skinning himself down to the “bone” repeatedly, trying to breach his ribcage and tear out the entity that is his “heart”. Such was of no use, so he’d sit, let his flesh slowly regrow, and repeat.

I’m debating on giving these two a bio kid.

He lives on Earth for millions of years, befriending a man named Marcos. He and Marcos were very close, I’ve actually debated making their relationship romantic. However, Marcos passed after a few years due to OD, and Ebola was left alone with Gatito, their cat, until he had to bury her. Marcos had a son though, Luca, who came back for him when he was an adult though, with his wife and two kids. Marcos actually named Escorpio ‘Escorpio’.

Idk there’s so much going on that I have to work through, ugh. I wish this was easier, I kind of miss when bro was just a traumatized experiment created by Shockwave lmfao
