Whether they are a self-insert stepping into a beloved world or an original creation designed to challenge the very foundations of their universe, overpowered (OP) characters are a vibrant and essential part of the creative landscape.
Too often, creators are told to tone it down or keep things grounded, but there is profound value in exploring the limits of power and the depths of personal wish fulfillment.
At its core, writing an OP character is an act of reclaiming agency. In a world where we often feel small or constrained by circumstances beyond our control, stepping into the shoes of a character who can reshape reality, command the elements, or stand toe-to-toe with gods is incredibly cathartic.
A self-insert who possesses immense power isn't just a power fantasy. They are often a vessel for processing personal desires for protection, justice, or freedom. When a character isn't limited by standard power levels, the story can shift away from "Can they win?" to "What will they choose to do with that victory?" This opens doors to complex moral dilemmas and philosophical explorations.

Creating an OP self-insert is a way to bridge the gap between ourselves and the stories we love. It is a declaration that we belong in those worlds, not just as observers, but as pivotal forces of nature. OP characters often act as a catalyst for change in established canons, forcing the world to react to a new, immovable object or an unstoppable force.
When you create characters who exist on a higher plane, you aren't just writing a story. You are worldbuilding. This level of world-building requires a sophisticated understanding of balance, even if that balance is tilted heavily in the character's favor.
To everyone crafting the too strong, the too fast, and the all-powerful. Keep going. Your OCs and self-inserts are valid expressions of your imagination. You don't need to nerf your characters to satisfy a traditional idea of balance that is better left in the early 2000s.

Even after he realizes who he is reincarnated to, it’s never too late. Itadori Jin regained his past life memories and knowledge of this world in one of the famous manga he used to read. He is already married and has a child. He shuddered by his wife who had a stitch mark on her forehead. He managed to survive the car accident and escape from Kenny. Jin thought that was all and took his heart and soul to watch over his precious son along with his dad. He now commits to being a secret overprotective helicopter dad just to make sure his Yuuji never gets near the dish soap fingers and the white paintbrush head man. It all seems fine until it’s not.
Like Gege didn’t want happiness or faith to need the same outcome despite taking a different part. To the king of curse to live on and walk on earth once again.
He almost forgot who Itadori Jin truly is.
It is him swallowing Sukuna’s finger instead.
When two were a half once split. One became two and now two becomes one once again.

SUMMARY:
SI OC is reborn as Itadori Jin. He survived until the canon and successfully raised Yuuji without dying himself. Deemed to protect him from the cruel cursed world, instead, he takes Yuuji’s place by being the one to eat Sukuna’s finger. His soul merged with Sukuna and gained his powers, and unfortunately, his memories. He followed Yuuji into the world of sorcerers. While others believe he exorcised the king of curses by eating his fingers and Sukuna never awake in the modern world, he also tried to fool himself and deny what was left of the calamity imprinted on his soul. And of course, the title of the king.
P.S. I wonder why there are not many talking about him that much. I mean, he is Sukuna's twin reincarnate and technically his other half. So I came up with what if Jin is alive, being the one who eats fingers instead and they merged. And with SI Oc shenanigans with canon knowledge. Chaos insured. Twin becomes one once again and The Dad king would not let anyone touch his kid.
Just my concept story for now and might add more in the future

Chapter 5 of Deltarune altered the chemistry of my fucking brain and behold, this little joke ghost OC that spawned off somewhere, idk where, became fully realized and now here you go, an addition to the Napstablook house

They were found by the shelter one night by Undyne and Napstablook and after Undyne scared the crap out of them and Blooky pulled Wisp out of the Shelter during their minor panic attack, Carol just went WE CANNOT LET THIS GHOST GO, while Undyne was like oi, Blooky, you sure this punk ain't your cousin and like...
the stereotype of all ghosts being related aside, Napstablook actually STOPPED to think and wondered, "Oh crap what if we ARE cousins", so you mixed that all up and now Hometown has a new ghost.
They had a brief stint with schooling, then was juggled around town for a job before EVENTUALLY, they landed at Flower King and are actively helping Asgore make ends meet by being the loadbearing "WE NEED TO MAKE MONEY" asset of the shop. (also Asgore genuinely likes talking to them because they're the one being in hometown that CANNOT in any way try to judge him the same way he judges himself)
They're a ghost on the verge of transitioning so they're in a very fucky situation of "do I want to go corporeal?" and "WHERE AM I?!"
they're on the meta level of knowledge of Undertale knowledge, Pre 10th anniversary stream, and also are pre chapter 3+4 release of Deltarune, so initially they just wanted to stay a bystander UNTIL THEY SAW NOELLE AND WENT I DON'T WANT THE WEIRD ROUTE.
So now Kris and SOUL are like "this ghost hella sus" because this ghost was like lowkey following them for the first two chapters before getting their ass dragged unwillingly by accident come chapter 3. Also the Roaring Knight is on their ass. Legit, Wisp is living a Malcom in the Middle Reese subplot with these shenanigans.
Napstablook house puts Napstablook as the oldest by process of elimination on who has the most responsibility cuz no one fucking knows who's older and younger, and Wisp had to fight for their fucking life against Maddie for middle child, mainly BECAUSE they have a job now.
Also the Ruins Dummy is also in the house, but just quiet and content??? They're not dealing with dysphoria like Maddie and Mettaton. but now you also got Wisp who's starting to form an identity, until it fully blooms by chapter 5. As in, they grow their own fucking body lmao, somehow. it's Deltarune, don't think too hard on it.
I just got so fucking emo over a bunch of flowers that I had to do something. :V
I made a Team Fortress 2 OC/self-insert character! Everyone, meet the Pilot!! ✈️
- Her call sign is “Foxtrot” Which she earned from her wily personality and tendency to trip over her own feet. 🤣
- She disguised herself as a man to enter into the airforce, spent the first year in the forces as a cadet before embarking on a solo(and unsupervised) flight across the Atlantic from England to New Mexico.
- Unafraid of danger, She jumps into whatever battle may lie ahead as long as she enters from the sky and has a nice pot of tea and cake in the cockpit, falling from the sky will not deter her from her sipping her breakfast tea. 🙃
- She is bubbly and chatty within Team Fortress and likes everybody, she loves getting to spend a day with the boys and often inviting them out for tea break or a fly around in one of her planes.
- Older than Scout but younger than Sniper.
- She has a pretty thick Yorkshire accent and uses an abundance of airforce slang within her vocabulary, which might often confuse her friends and teammates. 😅
That’s all I’ve written about her so far, and I hope I can take her places as I really love how she’s turned out! 😁 I may make a change or add more to her later, and give her a full profile~ until then here she is, just in time for Team Fortress 2’s 18th anniversary! 🎉
