vier protagonistinnen und vier - so kann man schon aus der form schließen - spiegel, in denen die protagonistinnen abstrahiert (sofern man dies bei fiktionalen figuren sagen kann) zu sehen sind - also ohne ihr gesicht bzw. gesichtszüge, was perfekt zum titel passt. und das nicht wegen der spiegel, sondern aufgrund dessen, wie die protagonistinnen im roman und eben menschen leider zu oft auch in unserer realen welt gesehen werden... ohne gesichtszüge sind alle gleich und nicht unterscheidbar, werden über einen kamm geschert, der individualität beraubt. eine sehr interessante und ins auge springende gestaltung des umschlags durch richard binder, der hier einen teil der essenz des romans auf dem einband abzubilden vermag.
ein roman den man gelesen haben sollte? (rezension im vorigen beitrag) doch wie auch immer - der umschlag ist wunderbar gestaltet von reinhard binder. die stolzen, teilweise geheimnisvoll den betrachter anblickenden damen beschreiben sehr gut die geschichte, die djaïli amadou amal hier vorlegt. um die frauen herum alles ganz schlicht - den roman treffend die gestaltung toppend...
