I do think gender non-conformity is something that would be interesting to look into in greater depth, not just with Moran but likely with Moriarty too, in the canon, maybe in adaptations too (and while I’m not that interested in exploring that with Holmes, it is interesting that Holmes isn’t actually the ‘hyper-masculine Hero’, and that he and Moriarty do seem to share many traits rather than being total opposites). Also how gender non-conformity tends to be tied in too with queerness often, which is definitely applicable to them. I mean I don’t think Moriarty is fully in the ‘sissy villain’ category (and some non canonical things have even pretty much straightwashed him) but there are undercurrents of that, there are undercurrents of them both being queercoded villains.
