Atmos- I love how this sounds like Viewโs cousin. Itโs such a good sound for SHINee and I love that they are back at it! I love all the (lol) atmospheric sounds in the background- like I get this rumbly thunder feeling and then that high dreamy sound- so good! And there goes Taem? hooting and hollering in the back! Maybe itโs Jinki, not sure lol.
HOURS- A SHINee track where Kibum intros in English? Yes please. I love how groove this is. I want to get up and dance to it! Jinki is doing some really interesting layering sounds in there and itโs so good. Ok, HOURS is going straight to the top of the playlist!
Possibility- Ooh, Minhoโs got some strong verse lines here- and I can here him powering through the whole chorus too! Go Minhooo! I like the nanana chorus. I keep feeling like thereโs a SHINee song this matches with too but I canโt pin it down.
Anti Believer- Woah, what a contrast between Jinkiโs warm opening and Taeminโs next line in there! Minkey rap? Yes please! Jinki with this vocal trumpeting feeling thatโs capped off with Kibumโs high staccato notes- loving it. Itโs a good combination of everyoneโs voices- a little overwhelming but also like, in that woven together way. (If that makes sense?)
Still Raining- Mmm, a slinky sort of song! Lots of Jinki vocals. Lots of group harmonies. Thereโs a nice tension that builds up to the chorus and then everyone gets to show off in their own special ways- very much a fan of this SHINee speciality!
Thousand Miles Away- Iโm really pleased thereโs as much lines for Minho here as any other member. I love them all singing together in the chorus. ๐ฅน I keep getting distracted from the vocals or the music because I have this huge feeling of heavy nostalgia in my chest. I really want to know the words to this, I have a feeling itโs going to be sweet like Days and Years. Go OFF Jinki my man! Kibum leads this closing chorus so well. Oh! This is like Minhoโs most syrupy warm tone to finish us off! And Taem trailing off up to the sky. I like it. A lot. ๐๐ป
Final thoughts: I want to listen to this album more. And more and lots. Itโs been a long time since a SHINee album felt like a true *core* SHINee album, but this one does. I may not have gotten my R&B track like I was hoping for, but boy- did I get a return to the house style of Odd album and View which is another one of SHINeeโs core strengths. The album feels like it moves really well between tracks too- nothing feels like I got slapped from one reality to another vastly different one. It feels tight and cohesive. But also fun and warm. Everything my boys do best. Iโm going to enjoy going over this album over and over again this summer. Summers back and so is the eternally youthful and beautiful SHINee.
