Buck = Clipboard, Dex = Fix it
Dex and Nursey move to LA and Dex becomes a firefighter at the 118. Nursey is an author, he has a collection of poems and he also writes kids’ books. (He writes a book for Mara where the main character is called Tilly because Mara Wilson=Matilda=Tilly, about a character who finds her family)
Dex likes the crew, they remind him of the hockey boys. Dex misses all the clues that both Hen and Buck are queer, and is telling everyone that Nurse is his roommate. When he finally does find out, he invites Derek to the next 118 barbecue to introduce him properly.
Buck and Dex fix a bunch of shit around the firehouse, including and not limited to: the women’s shower, the air conditioner, and the storage cupboard.
Dex and Nursey take Buck and Bobby to one of Chow’s hockey games.
The Samwell crew shows up for Dex’s shield ceremony and it turns out Bitty and Bobby know each other through the figure skating world and they swap recipes.
It’s just cute and fun and fluffy and the biggest issues are like, a minor injury to Derek and Dex being weird about his feelings.
This is closer to finished that I think it is, I just gotta buckle down and fill in some gaps.
crazy that we’ve been writing about nursey dropping his chill for like 10 years now and it’s going to be canon. imagine we’re all totally wrong and he’s not a bundle of anxiety 24/7

OH btw. some random thoughts about Nursey and poetry and his relationship w/his emotions: i think that Nursey is very casually avoidant in a way that usually flies under the radar. kind of guy who can’t always tell when he’s chillin and when he’s actually playing dead. and so i think writing, especially more abstract writing like poetry, probably provides a necessary level of abstraction for him to in any way engage with his own feelings. this is not, however, to say that he’s actually talking about his feelings in there — he strikes me as the kind of writer who thinks describing emotion with words is like, lame and boring and limiting. like if you want to talk about a feeling then just have your work evoke it so clearly and strongly that it supersedes the petty imperfections of language, DUH! if dex ever read his poetry this would make him feel violent (Nursey are you actually physically incapable of just sAYING WHAT YOU MEAN-) but I bet lardo agrees with him lmao.

“Chow said he can get us tickets for his next game in town,” Derek told Will when he got home from work that night. “I already checked, you’re off shift if you wanna go.”
“Sick,” Will covered up a yawn.
“Chow said he could get us four tickets.”
“Oh… kay. Who did you want to go with?” Will was a little confused — they were notoriously bad seat partners at Chow’s games.
“If you wanted… I thought we could take Buck and Tommy?”
“Oh, like a soft launch before the 118 barbecue?”
“Well, yeah.”
“Huh,” Will said thoughtfully. “If Chow doesn’t mind, I’m sure that could work.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. I think it could be a lot of fun.”
“Cool. I really want to meet Tommy. From what you’ve said, I’m curious to see him and Buck together.”
“They’re like, obnoxiously cute.”
“You know, people say that about us.”
“They do not,” Will scoffed.
“Well, I do,” Derek laughed. “We are super cute. The cutest.”
“You’re so weird,” Will told him. “I’ll ask Buck if he and Tommy want to go when we’re back on shift.”
dex snorts when he laughs hard and nursey only makes fun of him a little bit
