4 Less Than Obvious Reasons You’re Not Getting Stronger
If you are stuck on a strength plateau despite regularly hitting the gym and doing your usual weight training, it's time for you to make adjustments to what you're doing in and out of the gym. 💪
We highly encourage you to read the full article to learn more about the ideal rep ranges besides these tips posted: https://www.gymaholic.co/articles/reasons-not-getting-stronger
This video was taken December 1 2021, and was from when I was seeing what my one rep max was on bench. I was able to hit 95 kg. I haven't done one rep maxes in awhile, so I'd like to think I've gotten better.
Bench isn't a lift I tend to do a lot, as I find bench to be a bit overrated. Usually I use dumbbells to hit my chest, but I might start pushing my bench a bit more for powerlifting and to help support my shoulders more. Maybe an incline bench might be the way to go.
515x1 Deadlift. The End.
Bench, squat, deadlift 1 rep max?
Before I moved my bench max was 120 lbs, squat was 185 lbs, and deadlift was 205lbs at a body weight of 115 lbs. My shoulder press was also at 90 lbs!

3/29/17 - WOD
Pre-WOD was finding out push press one max rep weight. Mine was 55lb!
The WOD was for time: 30-20-10 Bar to over head @ 35lb Box Step Ups @ 20" Burpees
I liked the format of decreasing reps each round, but that first set of 30 burpees was brutal. I stink at burpees but I know I’m a lot better than when I started so that’s something. Also I got to add +60 to my burpees to date counter and I’m up to 950!!!
This WOD had me sweating and out of breath, but I would actually not hate to do it again. It took me 23:30 to finish which was quite long compared to the others in my class, but I didn’t mind. I could do all the movements in this WOD, so even though it was tough it felt satisfying to finish all the work at the end.
For the past 7 weeks I’ve been doing 5x5 for Bench Press, Squat and Deadlift twice a week. After 4 years of training, this is the first time I really focus on strength.
My numbers increased like crazy, but I still have some work to do on my technique for each movement. Now I’m back into a bodybuilding style of training.
I will document my progress on my YouTube channel:
