my friend just got a job teaching ESL at a charter school in Philadelphia without any ESL teaching experience and it pays $74,000 a year. That’s a profession that I have training in and five years of experience and good references. I haven’t even applied for jobs since the pandemic and I’m doing rideshare barely scraping by. That hit me hard. I know it’s that I hate my job because when I had 10 days off from work, I was happy and optimistic and getting things done and now that I’m going back to driving I just go home from work every day just wanting to die. (Emotionally). I feel like I just failed at every aspect of trying to succeed at life. It just makes me feel like the biggest loser on the planet. I've just ruined my life. I was happy for them, but it hit really hard.
It is so painful to accept that there might've been a whole buffet out there, and I have been cloistered in my room, rationing ramen, metaphorically speaking. I'm so sad I'm going to do 100 burpees for time. I’m in this weird, needing to impress other people/fugue state that the only thing that’ll make me feel better is trying to beat Drake‘s 100 Burpees for time.

Update: I did 20 Burpee‘s in 13 minutes and 49 seconds. Drake’s record is safe for now but considering that I am a 320 pound guy that hasn’t exercised in four years, almost never even goes for walks, I’m happy with that. Especially since I was doing it because I assumed I was so out of shape that I would have a heart attack and die and so the fact that I can do strenuous exercise and not have any racing heart or chest pains indicates that I’m not as doomed as I think, so I feel good about that.
