A return to my old art style in an attempt to soothe a stressful week.

I was working on some more complex art of Melian in this pose in the enchanted woods of her chosen home, but frustration mounted. To prevent myself from losing the spark I had about her I decided to simply make the pose in a simple and dramatic style.

This is a work in progress piece related to the Silmarillion by Tolkien. At one point the last living sons of Fëanor (Maedhros and Maglor) end up taking in and raising the twin sons of Elwing and Eärendil. These sons are Elrond and Elros.

Yes, that means the little boy on the left will be Lord Elrond of Rivendell some day.

Whether the sons of Fëanor functioned as foster parents or captors is up for debate in the fandom but we know at least that Maglor became very fond of them.

Would you mind if I asked whether you're androgynous, or if it is possible to misgender you at all?

I am intersex, yes.

I am somewhat androgynous. I look more like a handsome intense looking woman than a man, but if I didn't have the chest I do, I would look like a pretty man in my personal opinion.

Self portraits.

I used to be mistaken for a boy much of my childhood and well into puberty as well because while I dressed very theatrically... it was not always feminine, which was what I was assigned at birth despite internal organ variety and hormone levels.

I like them as boss and employee, best friends, lovers, husbands, or anything in between. But I would note that I don't see them as abusive. Nothing in the text would indicate that either suffered while working with the other.

More expression practice! This time I had Mairon (Sauron) help me out, but honestly he was not as keen on it as Melkor was.

Sometimes drawing a character is like asking them to sit with you and model, occasionally they oblige, often they refuse or do it with an attitude.

In an effort to move closer to my goals of creating a Silmarillion comic series I have been studying expressions in comic art and applying them to my character designs.

Disclaimer: Yes, I know Dís and Thorin II have a brother named Frerin, I will have him on the larger graph coming up.

Movie Version: This was fun! They made Thorin so young and brave / handsome, which is NOT how he is in the book.

Book version: Thorin was Older (195), and is described as having a white beard, while wearing a blue hood / hooded cap with a silver tassel on the end of it. Fili and Kili were similarly described as wearing blue hoods with tassels, and both being blonde!

Yes I made my dwarf women have beards… I like them that way.

One of my wonderful friends and Patreon members requested that I try my hand at drawing their version of Ulmo: Lord of Waters and Depths from Tolkien's Silmarillion, in my style.

This was hugely fun but took longer than expected because I decided to put our Ulmos in frame together. Her design is truly breathtaking, and I adored drawing his sea foam hair and chainmail.

This was one of those hidden palette challenges that my members on Patreon voted for in a survey... (you know, the make a crazy color collection, then turn it all greytone and draw, then turn color back on and see what you have made...) that thing...

I will NOT be attempting this again, but huge respect to the people who can do this properly and not overthink it like I did.

Also I picked a pose that I liked from the films not thinking about how so much of his face would be lost... (still I really always like when films have this pose).

I had art block, so instead of sitting on my hands and feeling the gut churning pain of no productivity despite a head filled with do-draw lists... I just decided to draw an OC in a different style.

The unfortunate consequence is that now I REALLY want her shoes...

I had such fun today just drawing these characters. I had been re-reading the first book and it is always such a strange and enjoyable part of the adventure to me when they all decide to go together. (Frought with worry as it is).

Re-reading and rewatching the LOTR trilogy has made me consider if perhaps I should make some comics of my favorite book scenes that did not get enough love.

Irmo is the Lord of Dreams and Visions and the Vala associated with Desire. He is often called Lórien after his famous Gardens of Rest, where he spends most of his time.

Irmo is the brother of Nienna the Lady of Sorrow and Námo the Master of Souls. He is married to Estë, the Valie of Healing.

I have always associated him with moths, so here he is as I always pictured him.

Here are my character starters for the Lords of Gondolin, which will really only become important once I get around to my *Fall of Gondolin* comics and *Gondolin Days* slice of life comics before that.
