Thingol and Melian in the woods of Nan Elmoth:
thingol welcoming the arafinweans into doriath because they're his niece's children:
thingol assuring melian that the sons of feanor are "likely to prove the deadliest foes of [morgoth]":
Элу Тингол — эльф из народа тэлери, король Дориата и Владыка всех синдар Белерианда, старший брат Олвэ и Эльмо, муж Майа Мелиан и отец Лютиэн Тинувиэль.
Elu Thingol is an elf of the Teleri people, the king Doriath and Lord of all the Sindar of Beleriand, elder brother Olve and Elmo, Maya Melian's husband and father Luthien Tinuviel.
"She dwelt in the gardens of Lórien, and among all his people there were none more beautiful than Melian, nor more wise, nor more skilled in songs of enchantment. It is told that the Valar would leave their works, and the birds of Valinor their mirth, that the bells of Valmar were silent and the fountains ceased to flow, when at the mingling of the lights Melian sang in Lórien."
Thingol was the only elf to successfully rizz an Ainu, which is impressive, but I also want to point out that Melian wasn't "just" any Maia, she was literally the IT GIRL of Valinor.
There were probably many other Maiar who had a crush on her, and maybe there was even someone like "her Daeron", who spent many millennia grieving after she left, unable to understand why she would settle for one of the Incarnates instead of choosing someone who was her equal. And when she returned, she seemed like a different person. She couldn't fade from grief the way Luthien did after Beren died the first time, but she was no longer singing, and she probably didn't want to leave the gardens of Lorien until Thingol was released from Mandos.
When that finally happened, the two of them probably became the center of attention for quite a long time. Everyone wanted to finally meet Thingol, and everyone was happy to see Melian leave the gardens and smile again.

this is probably a long shot, but are there any thingol communities out there? maybe a discord server, subreddit, or some other online space for thingol fans?
i’d make a discord server myself, but unfortunately the program i’m in doesn’t leave me with enough time to properly moderate one.
is there an existing place dedicated to sharing fanart, fic, meta, discussions, and anything else thingol-related? if anyone knows of a community like that or has any recommendations, i’d really appreciate it!
Thingol and Melian in Menegroth vs. Thingol and Melian on their yearly summer vacation.
"Luthien was through her mother, Melian, descended also from the Mayar, the people of the Valar, whose being began before the world was made. Melian alone of all those spirits assumed a bodily form, not only as a raiment but as a permanent habitation in form and powers like to the bodies of the Elves. This she did for love of Elwe; and it was permitted, no doubt because this union had already been foreseen in the beginning of things, and was woven into the Amarth of the world, when Eru first conceived the being of his children, Elves and Men, as is told (after the manner and according to the understanding of his children) in that myth that is named The Music of the Ainur.)"
When you’re competing for the title of biggest thelian shipper and your opponent is Eru Iluvatar himself...😭
But this actually makes me feel kind of sad for Melian, because she was the only one among the Ainur to experience the loss of both her child and her husband for Eru’s plan to work. And it’s not even clear whether she will ever see Luthien again (even after the remaking of the world, since no one knows exactly what will happen then). Maybe she even will be also forced to part with Thingol once again? What does Eru have in mind for the Maiar in that new world? Maybe she would need to choose whom she wants to stay with if the elves remain bound to Arda while mortals are destined for some other fate?
I can imagine her pondering all these questions and "what ifs" even after Thingol returns to her from Mandos, with those fears still looming over the joy of being reunited with him.
