Kolob Canyon, Zion National Park. We hiked the well traveled Timber Creek Overlook then the butt kicking South Fork Taylor Creek up into the snow covered canyon. SFTC was a great hike with a long uphill section followed by a snow covered Zion style slot canyon. It was great to hike in the trees again and snow made it special. We finish our visit to the UK cities in the unique and historic city of BATH with a rare and highly decorative map showing the Town Plan of the City of BATH in Somerset.

Exceptional detail of the central streets around the River Avon with vignettes of Royal Crescent, Abbey Church & St Michael’s Church. This map was drawn & engraved by John Rapkin for The Illustrated Atlas and Modern History of the World published by John Tallis, 1851.

Bath was a prosperous city in the Medieval period, the site of an Abbey and Cathedral (under the Bishop of Bath and Wells). The Reformation under Henry VIII saw some uncertainty emerge in Bath’s future, although the reign of Elizabeth I saw the first revival of the town as a spa resort. It was during the Georgian period, however, that Bath came once again into its own. Exceedingly fashionable, Bath was laid out in stately avenues, streets, and crescents, encrusted with Neo-Classical public buildings.

Famous for its hot springs, Roman period baths, Medieval heritage, and stately Georgian architecture. Today it is a World Heritage Site.

Birmingham is a major city in England’s West Midlands region, with multiple Industrial Revolution-era landmarks that speak to its 18th-century history as a manufacturing powerhouse.

Because of that is known as the ‘first manufacturing town in the world’ and was hailed as the 'City of a Thousand Trades’ after it achieved city status in 1889, thanks to the number of businesses that chose to base themselves in the area, largely due to its vast water network.
