The focal point is an important principle in visual art, in food photography composition. Without an obvious point of interest, you won’t hold the attention of the viewer. 💫 The focal point in an image is not random. It should fall within a certain area: for example, where the lines intersect on the rule-of-thirds grid, or the phi grid. 💫 Luckily, there are tools that can aid us when composing our shots. The grid on our LCD screen is one. The crop overlay guides in software like @lightroom is another. 💫 You can create a focal point with light, color, isolation and contrast. 💫 When creating this image for @donnellygroup I used the compositional principle of pattern, but I made sure that the pepper that was not like the others became my focal point. 💫 When you shoot food, are you conscious of your focal point? If so, how do you approach it? . . . . #foodeditorial #canon #offsetartist #vancouverrestaurants #vancouverfoodphotographer #vancouverphotographer #peppers #macrophotography #gastrostoria #stilllife #stilllifecomposition #foodphotograohycomposition #restaurantphotography #lifeandthyme #mywilliamsonoma #foodfluffer https://www.instagram.com/p/BxahAV7BfKq/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=o5omfowwwoto
