i'm glad you said it first cause i didn’t know how to word it & was scared it was gonna come off wrong if i tried to say it 😭. like do not get me wrong, i LOVE seeing mack do well and pull off crazy shit and break records. but when it comes to very specific things like the sharks v blackhawks games, i do find myself hoping for connor to do better than mack (even if just by a small margin). and not just bc social media will spend the next few hours calling him washed and a fraud if he doesn’t. but bc the only time people other than his own fans ever seem to give him his flowers is when he’s directly going up against mack. any other time it’s like,,,

connor pulls something off w the blackhawks = “okay but let’s talk about this completely unrelated thing that mack did and how much better he did it”

mack does something good = “OH connor could never”

and i genuinely don’t understand how things came to be like this bc the two of them have literally. Never spoken badly about each other. not publicly anyway. so when people dislike connor because of mack, or dislike mack because of connor (which I don’t acc see that often, but I have seen it here and there) it’s just so ??? for what ???

& i have so many other thoughts that i wouldn’t even begin to know how to put into words (the olympics ordeal, the way people compare their performances & what they’re able to pull off knowing that, team wise, they do not have anywhere near the same support system). moral of the story: WE need connor to prove the narratives wrong bc things cannot keep going on like this 💔

when I got into hockey it was because I needed something that would not stress me out like f1 does. now look at where we are smh. all cause of connor bedard

day 3/30 for color studies/practices, this time it’s hei xiazi! I’m pretty early into this informal challenge I gave myself, but it’s been really nice to get back into doing something like this, I can already feel some of my old ‘art muscles’ returning ✨
