Recently reread Rivals while I was in quarantine. It definitely got me through those 2 weeks. But I have a question Iāve always been curious about. In Of Bright Stars and Burning Hearts, what exactly did Chris say to Yuuri while Phichit was talking to Victor after the infamous kiss?
āHe was just telling me some things that I needed to hear,ā Yuuri told him, gazing flickering into the distance for a second before returning to Viktorās face again. āAnd some things I definitely didnāt,ā he added with a small grimace, rolling his eyes but looking faintly amused all the same.
The things Chris said that Yuuri needed to hear was pretty much the same kind of thing that Phichit said to Viktor. About how he was really happy for Viktor and Yuuri, but that heād seen how much their relationship had messed Viktor up over the years and that he wanted to make sure Yuuri was serious about making it work now. Basically justĀ āIāve seen how much Viktor loves you and I know you love him too but you better be 100% sure about this relationship now because the on again off again thing you had going before was destroying him.ā And of course Yuuri was already intending for the relationship to be a serious and committed one but Chrisā words really drove home for him that the nature of their previous relationship had been just as unhealthy and emotionally damaging for Viktor as it had been for him. And they both needed to make sure that never happened again, for both their sakes.
And the things he didnāt need to hear was Chris giving a detailed list of things that Viktor liked in bed that Yuuri could try, which was both informative and mortifyingly embarrassing for Yuuri to hear in a public setting
Reread Rivals cause Iām sick and thank you very much for it, here is my takeaway as a token of my gratitude: Yuuri: Go fuck yourself Viktor, flirting: Fuck me yourself ;) Yuuri, taking this as a challenge: [already removing his clothes] FINE!!1!1!!
I know there was always a joke about Taylor Swift songs describing Viktor POV in your fanfics . But ever since her new album came out all I can think of is how they describe the sad and happy parts of the relationship. Lover, Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, Daylight for the happy and Death By a Thousand Cuts, Afterglow for the sad parts.
These are all now definitely going on my playlist!

18.8.2017 It is late, I have been procrastinating uni wise but productive with creativeā¦works. I needed somthing to kickstart my calligraphy practise and I just re-read obs&bh and this justā¦happend and I like making things for others and I know it is not perfect but I really wanted to use these colours for this andā¦afskfjskf(more rambling) This is for @kazliin , who created one of the most amazing series of the YOI fandom and has taken countless tears of mine (and I bet those of others) to water their garden of angst, where we all await the flower called āThe Rivals seriesā to bloom. (take your timeš) Also, I want to make another one for umha&mfb but I CANāT DECIDE ON COLOURS UGH and does this count as fan art???
