Replaying the Bioshock games had me thinking about a major literary inspiration, Objectivism. If you look at Ayn Rand’s career trajectory, she knew how to “follow the money”. She lived in NYC, and then Las Angeles. It feels like she wrote Atlas Shrugged specifically for pandering to the wealthy. It is her most successful book, and I feel it earned the distinction of being “your least favorite person’s favorite book”.
Note: it almost seems like trolling, since she literally lived through the Great Depression and saw the US be lifted out of it by massive government spending projects for WWII.
