Coming-out (not mine)
Til now I never mentioned my profession. But today was a really great day.
We talked in sex ed about sexual preferences, gender issues and so on for weeks. And I showed them selected sections from Schittās Creek.
Today afternoon after the class a student came to me and asked how to come out to their mother as non-binary. They said it with so much confidence. No doubt, no shame, just a matter of facts. So sure about themselves and that their mother would be okay with it. I am so proud of them. Ā
And they came to me for advice. And the best I could think of at that moment wasā¦ to quote (more or less of course) Schittās Creekās Meet the Parents:
David Rose: [ā¦] what you're dealing with is very personal. And something you should only do on your terms.
There was only a little to add:
It doesnāt matter when youāre coming-out. It has to be the right time for you. And youāre still the same person as before. (Yeah, I know; almost David Rose again.)
And I promised to do some online research over the weekend to help them. Because I was never in a situation to come-out. I really hope I helped them.
