Guys, I know I promised I’d be back with new writing soon but I’ve been so busy with school and life lately.

Anyway this is a short story I had to write as an English homework, it’s nothing serious but I hope you’ll enjoy!

As Jane stared at the road ahead of her, she realised she had to make a choice. The road was red-hot, typical of a dry summer in the USA, pushing her to choose between North Carolina, where a scholarship for a college she really didn't want to attend was waiting for her, or California, the magic land where all dreams become true.

She had never been one to give everything up and just live: she was rational and pragmatic. She knew that going to college would have been the safest decision she could have ever taken: she would finally become the lawyer her father wanted her to be.

But something about the way her father's elegant, personal driver was looking at her didn't feel right.

She'd rather follow the obnoxious man who was holding lazily onto the bus' steering wheel, holding up in his callous hand a burned cigarette and staring at her like she was just another chick who would soon find herself poor and alone with just broken dreams. She wanted to prove everyone wrong.

So she decided to step on the bus, a gleaming smile on her pretty face. Both drivers scoffed at her, muttering something about her choosing the wrong way.
