Thinking about how if Nesta was the heroine instead of Feyre, her dynamics with characters could have been very different and she could have been living that fairytale romances she reads about.

Nesta would have been the perfect Beauty and the Beast archetype and it would have been so interesting to see what she would have done given she was so strong willed to see through glamour. Plus she’s intelligent and curious, which could have led to more world building exploration.

If Nesta was the leading lady, I would have loved to see how she would have handled Amarantha and early Rhysand. The riddle would probably been simple for her.

If Rhysand x Nesta was a thing, he’d have a harder time manipulating her and it’d truly be an enemies to possibly lovers.

Tamlin x Nesta would have been so interesting. Lucien x Nesta would have been fun to watch them banter. I still think SJM was wrong to think they’d tear each other apart. Maybe Eris x Nesta could have gonna better. Maybe Cassian wouldn’t have been so volatile to Nesta since the Feyre bias wouldn’t be involved. Azriel x Nesta should just be a thing. Period. 😂

Literally so much potential.

Nesta is such an interesting character and it’s be interesting to see how things would be different if Feyre’s bias against her wasn’t leading the interactions most characters have with her. It would have been interesting to see how she handled her childhood trauma in a different context.

Nesta and Lucien - the original idea was good, SJM should have stuck to it.

Nesta and Eris - the chemistry, the parallels, the compatibility, the possibility to explore a political marriage trope being transformed into a real and deep love. Chef kiss

Nesta and Azriel - I really like their platonic ship, how he listens to her, doesn't judge her, and it would have been a good type of friends to lovers.

Nesta and Tamlin - I suppose holidays would have been kind of awkward, but on the edge of peak comedy. But they would have healed together and found a way to help the SC. Nesta is easily absorbed by real charity work with a social cause, and Tamlin would have appreciated her more for this. Also, it would have been a more mature and conscious version of enemies to lovers, maybe enemies and lovers.

Nesta and the Cauldron - because why not?

Nesta and Cassian post-divorce era - you know the shows where the main couple divorces because they collected too many problems, and by being separated, they start to go through this emotional chaos and they understand things and they set new rules because they understand they want to be together, but it requires a new set of rules to ensure their happiness. This is how Nessian can get a chance in my eyes.

Nesta and HoW - like the Doctor and TARDIS.

Nesta and Vassa - I can imagine too much wine and daddy issues talk, leading to an accidental hookup. And after that, who knows?

i do love a nesta/tamlin dynamic wherein instead of being whisked away to the house of wind in acosf, nesta senses something is fuck and takes it upon herself to fuck off to the one place that is safe enough for her to be on her own but wherein no one would rat her presence out to feysand: the spring court. it's failing just like she is. it's uncertain just like she is. it's hurting just like she is. she manages to get there through some combination of magic and bribery and perseverance and tamlin immediately growls at her to get the fuck out and she points her finger in his face and tells him that he's the reason she's here in this faerie fuckdome at all so the very, very least he can do is get out of her face and forget he saw her here at all. she hits tamlin right where it hurts, so that's exactly what he does.

except—tamlin can't just leave her all on her own. his borders are weak. his land is hostile. she might be a faerie, but she's still got the vulnerabilities of a human. above all, tamlin is a good guy, no matter what he thinks of himself. he needs to make sure she's fed and clothed and housed. he herds her towards a recently abandoned homestead with a snapped branch here and a menacing growl there to keep her on the right path. he patrols that area more often than he should once she's settled. he leaves dead things on her porch so that she can eat. she doesn't even look around when she brings them inside. prim as any lady he's seen, she takes them by their hind legs, drags them inside, and closes the door to him. nesta remembers enough of how feyre used to butcher and preserve meat, so smoke always comes to rise from her chimney afterwards. it only makes her sick sometimes. she doesn't much care to eat anyway. she only does it because she knows he must be watching, and if he's this vigilant and he grows concerned, maybe he would let feysand know where she is. and that would not be good.

then one day tamlin leaves a carcass on her porch and when he returns in the night, it's still there. he dismisses her leaving immediately. he would be able to catch her trail if she had, and her scent remains squarely within the bounds of the stead. he prowls closer, and it smells... sickly. a sort of sickness he knows can afflict powerful faeries, but one which nesta thought was only her failures in preparing the meat. he shifts back to faerie for the first time in weeks, months, just to enter that stead without damaging the door. he finds nesta curled in on herself on the bed, sweating, moaning, grimacing, shaking—how long has it been since she used her abilities? has she ever? she's nearly delirious with fever when he turns her over. she bares her teeth but cannot point her finger, cannot cast him out. your magic, he rumbles. you have to use it, or you will die. nesta, stubborn as her sister, refuses—so he does as he has not in so, so long, and he commands her as a high lord. use it. ice-cold, silver flames erupt from her. the ground quakes with them. everything surrounding them is bathed in her ethereal fire. she is panting by the time they're gone. she is heaving against the mattress.

but her fever is broken.
