If Tamlin had a child…
I’ve had this thought for a long time but if Tamlin had a child, I imagine their name would be Eros because that child would be made with the love Tamlin has always wanted to give and receive and is the family he never had. He’d do everything in his power to raise that child completely differently from the way his father raised him. A child being named after love itself would be healing I think. Plus I associate the name with roses which fits the Spring Court aesthetic so well.
I feel like we never talk about the Illyrians boys NOT THE MEN but the child soldiers. They get thrown into war camps at 8 years old, most likely away from they're families until they are done with training!
These boys are treated horrible to the point where three lashing is considered good, and those are the legitimate children. The bastard born boys literally have to fight others for clothes!
I feel like this often get sidelined in the fandom and most people talk about the women and wing clipping. All of the Illyrian men and their behaviors are tied back to their childhood, no one is born misogynistic, barbarian and backwards. And if Rhys wants the girls to train too does that mean they train in the same condition as boys?
I know sjm wanted to show how backward and barbarian Illyrians are and most likely got inspiration by the Spartans but Rhys has been High Lord for at least 400 years! While Illyrians doesn't listen to High fae he is part Illyrian, he had more chance to change things than any of his ancestors! While we hear that he made wing clipping "illegal" we never hear him talk about changing the laws against child soldiers! He had time to change things! If he's such a good High Lord why does things like this still happening? It could of been a literal rhys glazing about how good of a High Lord he is because he abolished child violence against the Illyrian boys! Instead it never gets brought up, and when it does it's to show how horrible childhood Cassian and Azriel had! You know never about the current boys who are getting trained and brainwashed!
At least he could of changed some laws against child violence, making the training less brutal and violent! He could of changed the training age to 10 or preeteen! Or literally did anything else!
Eight year old boys are still children no matter their early upbringing or gender!
And yes it is Rhysand's fault and responsible! Because he is the High Lord, the ruler! It is his job to make change and better his people's life!
I wonder what will happen when Nyx has to start training...
Nesta
It makes me cringe whenever I see that quote for people who relate to Nesta to “climb that mountain” cause no, I will not. Nesta didn’t do anything wrong, it’s stupid to punish ourselves for the sins of others. The mountain wasn’t healing. The mountain wasn’t a revelation. It’s self-flagellation. I don’t care if Feyre’s feelings are hurt, it was the Inner Circle lying to her, not Nesta. So no, don’t climb that mountain, find a real support system and get real help if you need it. Not this fake care bullshit. The Inner Circle doesn’t give a shit about Nesta, they give a shit about what she can do to benefit them.
it's over tamlin✨️

No, let me go back to the beast abduction nesta retcon, so in acosf it says:
Literally never happens, though. Tamlin wants (and needs) the person that killed Andras, the Treaty he invents also only allows him to take the killer. This is the only time Nesta is acknowledged by Tamlin in that scene:
And isn't it interesting that Elain is the more self-serving one here? That phrasing seems like she's ready to let Feyre die bc she did kill the wolf after all, meanwhile Nesta never speaks.
Anyway, I dislike the retcon for many reasons but one of them is that it makes Nesta the guilty party in Feyre's abduction. Like objectively Tamlin is the one with power in that scene (well some power he's still cursed) but this retcon pretends that Nesta should and could have done something, that she is at fault for Feyre being taken. But she plainly isn't, Tamlin doesn't want her and even if he did, self sacrifice is an insane ask, it's perfectly fine for Nesta to not want to do that. Plus Feyre wouldn't have let her anyway, she's got a much stronger martyrial streak.
And bullshit like that lets me know that Nesta is not sjm's new self insert, those remain as Feyre and Rhysand, because this entire scene and really that entire book is about making Nesta be a terrible person that finally has to admit that she has always been wrong and evil, where Feyre and the Night Court are perfect and right. Like that entire scene is so endlessly cringe and not about Nesta and not about Tamlin, it's just about Feyre again and again lest anyone dare become a character in their own right.
✨10 Faves✨
So apparently I got tagged by @senu102929 to list 5 of my favorite female and 5 of my favorite male characters. Thank you very much bestie 🙂↕️
I’m going to do this based on the romantasy books I’ve been reading since this is a romantasy blog.
5 Favorite Female characters:
Rosalina O’Connell - She is literally me 😂 I love that she’s not your typical stick skinny heroine but is curvy with a soft belly. She’s cute and a bookworm and I love everything about her. Out of all the romantasy books I’ve read, she deserves to number 1 spot more than anyone. She’s also in a reverse harem and deserves it cause she’s caring and builds a genuine relationship with each of the guys. She’s the “Belle” character I’ve always wanted and I want to be her
Nesta Archeron - I love Nesta and think she deserves better. She’s hardly a bitch like people claim and she could be meaner. I relate to her trauma and the abuse she faced. I love her relationship with her friends and honestly, she’s my favorite female character in ACOTAR and the only Archeron sister I love fully. I’m bummed her romance didn’t turn out well but that’s SJM for you.
Hypaxia Enador - I love her concept and kinda hate that she was dropped at Ruhn’s love interest but given SJM’s track record with romance, it’s for the best. I love a witch character and I think her backstory about being basically raised by ghosts to be so cool. I’ve always been excited for every scene she’s in and her friendship with Tharion is so cute.
Rhiannon Matthias - My bisexual queen! I started out liking Violet cause she’s smart but as I continue the book, Rhiannon has become my favorite character because she’s a loyal friend and cool character. I love that she’s not doing this spiritual purity crap that happens to the heroines and has hook ups and relationships like a normal person. I don’t ship her with anyone but I love seeing her on scene having the time of her life.
Emerie of Illyria - She’s basically everything the fandom claims Elain is but I just adore her more. She runs her own shop, has a vegetable garden, reads smutty romance novels, cooks and is strong in her own right while still being feminine. Her friendship with Nesta and Gwyn is adorable and I honestly want more of her, she’s so underrated. I also love her voice in the graphic audio and thinks her having a cute feminine voice really suits her.
5 Favorite Male characters:
Tamlin - My favorite throughout the entire ACOTAR series and no one can change my mind. I already love the Beauty and the Beast thing and he is my Beast. Writes poetry, plays the fiddles, and is built like a god? Hell yes. I also really relate to the abuse Tamlin faced and see him as a victim in the narrative. He really does deserve better and all I can ask for is he gets to be happy and rule Spring again.
Lucien Vanserra - Became my favorite right next to Tamlin the second he came on screen. I love his sarcasm and banter. I like that he’s born in Autumn but lives in Spring cause my favorite season is Autumn and I’m born during Spring. His story is one of the most interesting and I think he also deserves better. I’m excited to see where things go for him. I hope we get more on him and Jesminda, him and Tamlin, and him and the Band of Exiles. I also hope we get more of the kind of wit and sharp tongue he had in book 1.
Ithan Holstrom - My sweet boy! 🥰 I have a weakness for wolf boys and I love what a sweet dork Ithan is. He reminds of what I imagine a young Tamlin would be like in a way after seeing him impulsively free 3 enslaved fire sprites and a dragon from the Astronomer. His relationship with Tharion, Flynn, and Dec is the best and I honestly just need more of him.
Liam Mairi - Golden boy playing knight is so cute. He sounds gorgeous and I love how he carves little figures. His loyalty is one of his best qualities and Violet is an idiot for not sleeping with him when she had the chance.
Farron - Another Autumn boy, what can I say? He’s sweet, smart, and I love how feral he secretly is underneath his gentleman exterior. His romances with Dayton and Rosalina make me emotional. Half way through Prince of the Arena and I swear, I am in love with this nerd. I wanna hold him forever.
Ngl, choosing only 5 male character was extremely hard cause there’s so many more characters I adore.
Taglist if you want to do it…

Lucien and Tamlin
Honestly, I do not believe Tamlin has ever abused Lucien.
Lucien is the only character consistently on Tamlin’s side and still defends him.
The only time Tamlin has raised a hand against Lucien was under coercion from Amarantha, it was not Tamlin’s will.
Lucien has never blamed Tamlin for anything, in fact when Tamlin sent Lucien’s things to the Band of Exile’s manor, Lucien specifically blames Rhysand who had been suicide baiting Tamlin.
They’ve gotten into fights, but so have the Bat Boys. Lucien has never said a bad word about Tamlin in those moments, only Feyre has assumed shit she never witnessed.
Tamlin is Lucien’s best friend and the closest thing to a true brother he has. Stop trying to put him against the person he cares about.
Lucien is not part of the Inner Circle, they treat him like crap. They are not his friends. Like Nesta, he’s just a tool to those people.
Lucien’s friends are Tamlin, Jurian, and Vassa.
People who HAVE abused Lucien though?
Beron is known for torturing his own sons and had Jesminda executed in front of Lucien.
Amarantha gouged out Lucien’s eye for disrespecting her and used as a tool to hurt and coerce Tamlin.
Ianthe SAed Lucien on Calanmai and sexually harassed him multiple times.
Feyre used Lucien in a sexual manner after he confided in her about Ianthe’s SA of him in order to put a wedge between him and Tamlin. She nearly left Lucien to get raped again because she didn’t really care but remembered Rhysand. She purposely ruined Lucien’s reputation and admitted he was collateral damage. She left Lucien wet and dirty in the foyer to sit while she fucked Rhysand. She made fun of his friends when he refused to stay in Velaris.
Rhysand is responsible for Lucien losing his home for a time, said so by Lucien himself.
Azriel actively wants to kill him for being Elain’s mate and nothing more. Lucien has literally done nothing to him besides exist.
If you care about Lucien and want to be mad, be mad at the ones who actually have harmed Lucien.
Tamlin is Lucien’s friend and if he felt otherwise, he wouldn’t still defend and care for Tamlin the way he does. They even do Winter Solstice together still.

Nesta and Cassian
While I don’t like Nessian in ACOSF but do like them prior in previous books, if SJM thinks Nesta’s imprisonment was a form of rehab, I don’t think she understands what rehab is. The fact that Feysand knew it would end with Cassian having sex with Nesta destroys the point of it being about Nesta’s recovery and more of a forced matchmaking. It’s disappointing that Cassian doesn’t see the manipulation for what it is and becomes a participant instead of courting her properly outside of this when she has freedom.
But really, if doctors and staff in rehab centers were having sex with patients, that’d be a major violation. Nothing about Nesta’s imprisonment says rehab. So either SJM did no research on people with addiction, Nesta never had an addiction, or SJM is fetishizing something really messed up.
The training and Valkyrie stuff is fun but I would not say anything about the core romance to be healing or romantic because Nesta’s healing isn’t a true priority and comes off as molding a vulnerable woman into a weapon to be useful to their ambitions.
Feyre, whenever Rhys hypes her up: "I'm strong. I'm capable. I am the High Lady of the Night Court and I demand respect."
Feyre, whenever she's made to confront the consequences of her actions: "Oops, I don't want to think about it, tee hee :3."
Tamlin 🌸🌿🌹
Reminder that Tamlin is also a victim!
He was abused by his father and brothers since childhood to the point that he joined the military to get away.
He was pursued by a predator since he was young and his father facilitated it by bringing Tamlin to see Amarantha. Amarantha tried coercing Tamlin into being her lover for centuries. You know if she’s willing to SA Rhysand, she 1000% SAed Tamlin UTM even if it wasn’t on screen. It’s unlikely she let him refuse her for months.
Feyre abused Tamlin in ACOWAR when she baited him into having a panic attack knowing it’d destabilize his magic in order to ruin his reputation. That is emotional and mental abuse. She manipulated him and took joy in it, causing the deaths and abuse of hundreds at the hands of Hybern.
Ianthe took advantage of Tamlin when he was vulnerable after 50 years of trauma to manipulate him and his court and betrayed him when she stole the Archeron sisters for Hybern.
Rhysand verbally and emotionally abuses Tamlin constantly, even baiting a suicidal Tamlin towards harming himself.
You may not like Tamlin but he’s just as much of a victim as other characters. He is not some cartoonishly evil bad guy. He is hurt and broken too.
Daydreaming…
Listening to more Big Time Rush songs and I keep imagining the ACOTAR and CC men as a boy band 😂
Was listening to Big Time Rush…
So the song “Any Kind of Guy” by BTR made me think of Tamlin and his shapeshifting abilities 🤭 Any kind of lover you want, he will adapt and you know you’re in for a good time.

Why is Feyre so stupid?
She destroys an entire court on the cusp of war and is shocked that 1) Her actions had disastrous consequences for the people of Spring, and 2) Her actions benefitted the enemy.
I could understand this level of stupidity from an mc in book one, but not the final book in a trilogy. It really shows what little character development Feyre went through and how she's never had to face the consequences of her actions.
Feyre is kind of lazy. She could've asked Nesta or even Elaine, the softer sister, to teach her, but yet she didn't. She threw a fit when Tamlin tried to teach her.
I think she always chooses the easier, more pleasant way.
Getting to know a court of people, make connections, adapt to a culture, learn and grow is harder especially for her who literally behaves like a raging teenager, than being paraded around, getting fingered in front of everyone, and letting her beauty and skills get objectified.
The spring court noble fae had to trust her, like her, accept her by her behavior. Meanwhile the night court basically had to accept because the high lord said so. She got the inner circle's trust, and Hewn city's respect easier because it was handed by Rhys, and she didn't have to earn it herself. Being a High lady with Rhysand was easier, she got the jewels, the houses, the pretty dresses and the crown just by fucking with Rhysand.
She did some paperwork and already started to whine about it and plot to get an assistant, not even thinking of the illyrian women or the poor parts of Velaris.
She got the wings by magic and some back muscle exercises, and immediately fetishised it. And didn't even bother to learn the cultural significance behind it, or think of illyrian women wing clippings, and how she can help. Just accepting what Rhys told her about wings (which half of it was sexual). Letting Rhysand handle the Nesta fiasco and sending her to fight was easier for her than to actually listen and try to help heal her sister's trauma.
Letting Elaine sit and falter in a dark room, and saying she would look better with Az (who usually handles everything for the inner circle basically so why not Elaine too) is easier than actually doing something. Feyre always chose the easiest way for herself.
