Okay first off, I adore the new girls squad. a d o r e. Also loved seeing Nora stand up for herself and against Zoe who reminds me of a girl that bullied me in school, so I'm very on the fence about her right now.
But. But. I really don't love the fact that Ismail is this bitchy sorta character, that, thus far, isn't likeable. Why? Because if they are, in fact, nonbinary, which I sincerely believe in, then I'd be upset. Because like, yeah, regardless of gender identity or sexuality, people can be assholes but ffs. We don't have NB rep in Germany. We really don't have much of that and I don't want one of the first characters in a bigger series to be an ass. I want them to be a role model and kind and likeable because I just know that some conservative German asshats will take that as a point of ridiculing NBs and other gender identities and I just, I really don't want that to happen, y'all get me?
I mean idk where the season and the next ones are going but how are they going to make Ismail into an enjoyable and lovable character? Also yes, again, people can be dicks regardless of identity but I don't want that in German media cause it's bland af already and people suck here.
Also please keep in mind I am cis and can't/ won't say anything on actual representation if we do get it, I'm just unsure about this whole thing and would appreciate others' opinions.
