"What do you think, Laur?"
What Laura thought was that the old farmhouse would be perfect for a horror movie, but she wasn't going to say that. Not because she believed Clint Barton of all people couldn't take some harsh words, no, but because she knew that this car crash of a man always kept his promises. He'd bend over backwards with five broken ribs; visit old stomping grounds and owe favors to people he should never, ever, be talking to again, just so he could procure a better place for her.
So Laura uncrossed her arms and said, "We should check the wiring, too."

Do you have any natlaura thoughts or headcanons or anything you could share? I’m obsessed and there’s nothing on them
OOOOOHHHHH YES. Hi, it's me, the infodumping vampire, who has once again Been Invited In.
Ok so since you've specified NatLaura I'm going to assume you would like Clint left out of the equation (since i usually ship them in a triad together romantically). I have my blog pretty locked down right now due to some personal stuff, but I do have an entire natlaura tag (if tumblr cooperates enough for you to view it).
Ultimately, my view on romantic natlaura is entirely based on their ten second exchange in Age of Ultron, which I can recite from memory (SAY IT WITH ME FOLKS):
"Honey, I missed you."
"I missed you too. How's little Natasha?"
"She's....Nathaniel."
"Traitor."
Important to note here (again. This scene? Ten seconds. Maybe 20):
This was the first term of endearment exchanged between two women in the MCU movies up to this point. We would not get another one until "Higher, further, faster, baby" in Captain Marvel (Natlaura crawled so that Carol and Maria could walk so that Agatha and Rio could SPRINT. Hey btw, notice how the first (real) words in AAA between Agatha and Rio were I missed you/I hate you. PARALLELS. Anyway).
Laura and Natasha are comfortable enough with each other that Natasha puts her hands on Laura's stomach without asking for permission
Laura loves Natasha SO MUCH that she's naming an ENTIRE CHILD after her.
THE TRUST. THE TRUST THAT LAURA HAS IN NATASHA. *gestures to all of the above*
I know this was supposed to be J*ss Wh*don being oh so clever being like "and here I am rubbing everything that Natasha can't have in her FACE" jokes on you asshole I made it gay. Natasha Romanoff you ARE the father.
Anyway. Tl;dr they gay. Happy National Coming Out Day to Nat and Laura!

Day 3: Fracture
Read on AO3
“Ah!” Nat cried out when Laura reached out to try to touch her arm, leaning back into the chair at the dining table to avoid being touched again.
Laura’s face twisted in concern. “We need to get you to the doctor.”
“No!” Nat jerked away again. “No doctors.”
“Nat…” Now Laura was pulling her mom voice, hand on her hip. “I’m pretty sure it’s fractured.”
“No, it isn’t!”
“Okay, then move it.” Laura cocked her hip out in challenge.
Natasha, for her part, put in a valiant effort to try to lift the offending arm. It barely lifts a few inches, but the wince on Nat’s face tells Laura everything she needs to know.
“Well, if you won’t let a doctor look, at least let Stark look at it.”
Natasha laughed through the tremor running in her body from the pain. “Yeah, he will probably send his little nanobots to enter my blood and mend it from the inside.”
Laura shrugged. “Yeah, probably.”
“Ugh, fine. Call him.”
Laura bent down and kissed the top of Natasha’s head. “We’ll get you taken care of, love. Please be extra careful on missions. I don’t like seeing you come back home all broken.”
Nat smirked. “I try, I try. But I can’t help it when those AIM assholes get a little rough with me.”
“Just…as long as you come home. That’s all that matters.”
This time, she kisses Natasha on the lips before she leaves the kitchen to make that phone call.
Nat/Laura Headcanon, as requested (I’m doing more than one bc they’re kinda short):
-Before the Avengers knew about Laura and the kids, Natasha would tell stories about them, but would always make them slightly hyperbolic so no one was really sure if they were true. Steve thought they were, but was convinced that Natasha had some sort of mild mannered alter ego and the woman in the stories had no idea Nat was Black Widow. (He shipped it even before he met Laura though).
-I really like the idea of Laura having a similar story to Clint and Nat, where she was a con man or criminal before going straight*
-Natasha never had romantic relationships when she was in the Red Room or even when she went on her own, so she doesn’t immediately recognize her feelings for Laura as romantic. She thought for a long time that Laura just made her nervous because she was the opposite of everything Natasha was. The she got real drunk one night with Sharon, Maria, and Bobbi and spilled her guts and all three of them were like “Natasha you idiot you have a crush.”
*clintnatlaura criminal au, coming to you at some point in the distant future when I can get my mojo back on it.

hey kids whatever you do don’t picture Laura singing Kesha’s Rainbow to Nat when Nat’s had a bad day BECAUSE YOU WILL GET EMOTIONAL LIKE I AM RIGHT NOW.
Eerie timing, since I've been stalking the tag on AO3 lately! Just a heads up, this one turned out pretty long.
In-depth analysis + fic recs under the cut:
One of the things I love is that a lot of the fics are 50/50 either focused solely on Nat/Laura or on both of them being with Clint. My personal preference is platonic Clintasha, but I do love me some OT3s, it must be said.
The Bartons were, in many ways, the first family Nat allowed herself to be apart of that was separate from all the darkness in her life (I only say this because it took her much longer to come to terms with her Ohio family, even though she technically had them first). Even outside of shipping terms, that kind of bond would run deep and shape the way Nat would see the world going forward.
So, there's the domestic fluff potential—Nat helping Laura with the kids, maybe learning how to do work on the farm, how to cook, experiencing holidays with a family that loves her and not having it feel fake, etc.
There's also a lot of angst potential in Nat's tendency to push people away before they get too close. Maybe she runs a couple times into the forest when things get overwhelming, or hides out in the barn where Laura finds her. Nat wouldn't be used to the slow, peaceful life out in the countryside, and that would either have a calming effect or cause her nervous system to go haywire (entertaining either way).
Not to mention being around the kids would bring back a lot of feelings about what the Red Room took from her, or even about things she's done in the past (Antonia in particular). So that's something Laura can help provide some closure for.
A lot of this is Nat-focused since I'm, well, me, but that's not to discount Laura's role here. Since she's mostly an MCU invention (her Agent 19/Mockingbird moniker aside) and doesn't have a lot of screen time, there's a lot of room for creative freedom on her characterization. But the main one going around seems to portray her as a source of stability/a home to come back to with Clint gone all the time & her having to live in secrecy. For that reason, I bet Nat would see her in that way once her walls have been broken down a bit.
I can see her being extremely protective of her kids as a direct result of all the enemies out there who would use them as leverage. Protective mom mode would come out at the slightest sign of danger, and for someone who used to be an agent, that would look especially deadly. She'd still be cautious about showing those parts of her past in front of the children (as we've seen in Hawkeye), but the moment crisis strikes, she's first in line to handle it while being able to keep a level head about it.
This protectiveness would also extend beyond her children toward Nat as both an extension of her being part of Laura's family & in some cases (very rare) where Nat could unwittingly put them in danger. Maybe Nat comes home with hidden injuries, and Laura sees through it and convinces her to let her help. Maybe someone finds out where they live, and Laura works with Nat to keep the kids safe. Maybe Nat's actions in CA:CW form a rift between them that they'll have to work through. (For EXTRA angst, imagine Laura's feelings post-Endgame...)
But yeah, there's a lot going on with this ship! Thanks for the ask, anon <3
Here are some Nat/Laura fics that I've enjoyed (in no particular order):
this is our place by fivewhatfive

Laura, her cats, and the house she built.
Nat being compared to a cat is one of my favorite tropes. Also, the dialogue in this is top-tier.

Playing with Fire by mildmile
Rated: E | 26,877 words | Chapters: 10/?
When Laura's son goes missing with Clint still imprisoned on the Raft, Laura turns to the only option she has left. As she and Black Widow search for Nate and untangle the mystery of his abduction, they must re-learn how to work together, while simultaneously navigating the broken promises of their unresolved past.
An ongoing fic I've been following that I highly recommend! The author has an interesting take on Laura and Nat's backstory, and the characterizations are on-point.

We Are Not Shining Stars by enigma731
Clint/Laura/Nat, Nat-centric
Rated: T | 14,662 words | Chapters: 1/1
That people might have to die in order to protect the future is a reality Natasha has long accepted. It’s practically been the basis of her training, her work, in each incarnation of her life. She just isn’t used to those people being the ones she loves.
Speculative Civil War aftermath, in which the cost isn't quite what anyone has thought.
This is a gut-punch of a fic & an incredible study of grief in interpersonal relationships.
"It feels like we're having to begin again," Laura says, leaning her head into Nat's chest.
It's an elephant in the room—Clint going over the cliff in Vormir.

"It feels like we're having to begin again," Laura says, leaning her head into Nat's chest.
It's an elephant in the room—Clint going over the cliff in Vormir.
Natasha lets her arms come up around her lover, but she doesn't say anything. What can you say to your partner when her husband and your lover died?
"I don't think I can live in this house anymore," Laura admits softly. "I don't think time is going to fix this."
Then she hiccups, and Nat crushes her tighter into her chest.
"Whatever you need, babe," Natasha says gently, rubbing her hands soothingly over Laura's back. "I'll start packing us up right now. We can move in with Stark if we have to."
Another wet hiccup bubbles out of Laura. "I don't want to leave, all the memories are here. But…I don't think I can stay."
"I love you," Natasha tells her. "We'll get through this."
"I know." Laura nods against her. "I just miss him. The kids miss him."
"I miss him too," Natasha whispers, kissing the top of Laura's head. "It's going to take time. But we'll be okay."
