The 12th annual MUSEXPO (www.musexpo.net) which takes place April 17 – 20, 2016 has announced that it will present its coveted “International Music Person of the Year” award to Kevin Weatherly, Sr. VP of Programming, CBS Radio and Program Director of the highly influential radio stations KROQ as well as JACK-FM (KCBS-FM) and AMP RADIO (KAMP-FM) in Los Angeles. In addition, Kevin will receive an official proclamation from the Mayor and City of Los Angeles at MUSEXPO for his incredible contribution to the “City of Angels.” The “International Music Person of the year” award recognizes the passion, vision, inspiration and ingenuity of those from the A&R, publishing, management, live, radio, music supervision, digital or brand arenas that are helping evolve their respective areas of the business and its creativity in the constantly evolving global music eco-system. This auspicious recognition is presented each year to an executive who is helping foster creativity and positive vision for the global music business and its various touch-points. Kevin’s work in radio began at age 12 at the family owned station KPIN in Casa Grande, Arizona. Now, with four decades of experience in the radio industry, Kevin has developed an in-depth knowledge and passion for contemporary music across all genres, a respected music industry reputation and a gift for spotting new global music talent. Kevin’s many awards and achievements are include multiple Program Director of the Year, honors from Billboard Monitor magazine as well as recognition from radio publications such as R&R and FMQB. Kevin was also recognized in 1995 as an honoree by the highly-respected TJ Martell Foundation. In 2006, the Los Angeles Times named Kevin to their “The West 100 – The Most Powerful People in Southern California” list. Kevin’s programming career began in 1989 at Q106 in San Diego, CA.
