the general recipe for most gay ships now adays consist of main character (guy) x his good friend

now don't get me wrong I love a good friends to lovers kinda thing but my main issue is that there is almost always another character who is CANONICALLY I love with the MC right there

and the only read that character and the MC isn't a preferred ship is because that character is a girl

some examples of these ships are nagisa x kaede, ash x serena, sonic x Amy, ochaco x izuku (deku), kyon x haruhi, ect

some anons will literally pass up a wonderfully healthy ship that has a real chance of being cannon for a ship that will never go anywhere and isnt even that good

on the flip side though, I also can't stand when the preferred ship is a terrible straight ship that's cannon, and also potentially toxic when a perfectly good gay one is RIGHT THERE

some of these better options consist of Stan x Kyle, arthur x Ford, rem x misa, serena x Shauna (video game versions, they have no chemistry in the show), ect ect

I absolutely believe in healthy male friendships and healthy female friendships however some of these guys are most definitely in love

normally I couldn't care less about what people ship, however the way a whole fandom will GANG UP on a character just because they get in the way of a gay ship is insane. they often rationalize this by saying the character has a shitty character arc, or they don't add anything to the plot but often times they just don't want to admit they fetishize gay couples and don't actually know anything at all about the character they are bullying.

God forbid a girl is in love ヘ⁠（⁠。⁠□⁠°⁠）⁠ヘ

and I say that because those types of people give of mysoginyst vibes to me (⁠-⁠_⁠-⁠;⁠)⁠・⁠・⁠・

anyway ship whatever you want just don't be a dick about a character that gets in the way of your fannon ship and rationalize it by not knowing anything about that character and bullying them

I honestly couldn't care less if you ship ash and goh, just don't be an asshole and say serena is a growthless character with no plot or substance purely because she canonically likes (and kisses) ash just because goh doesn't

same goes for any other ship and a character that gets in the way of it

I'm trying to warm up to the character again, and I'm doing it through fanfiction
