hello friends i am leading a 45 min, once a week tutorial/conference section for english lit up to 1660 and this week we were talking (mostly) about beowulf so i had to try to come up with coherent discussion questions about a poem that is heavily invested in like, digression as a poetic device? fuck me.

that is so sweet! I hope you can keep sharing good stories with the world.

I want an article that explains why it's much harder to pull all nighters in grad school than it is in undergrad... anyways, I hope it worked!

Coolest library elevator! Also, I'm sorry to ask but how do you work lying on the floor? I used to love reading on the floor but now my back just gives up in 5 minutes.

Mostly I don’t work lying on the floor . . . I just stare at the carpet (or ceiling, depending). I do a lot of work sitting on the floor though (the little tray my laptop is on has fold-out legs to raise it up) and that seems to be ok for me; when I get restless I can change position easily enough, and my actual desk is really small so I can spread out more on the floor. Like right now, I have stacks of essays left and right, which couldn’t happen at my regular desk. Lying on the floor is for moments of existential angst.
