failures
As you people know (or not), Iām a dentistry student. A very grade-driven success-seeker dentistry student. I know many people in the studyblr community are like this, just like many arenāt, and somehow weāll always see posts about how your grades donāt define you and whatsoever. But what they donāt tell you is how to cope with your self deprecation.
Today, after having only two weeks (one in March and one in April) without tests, since February 1st, I faced my last theoretical Biomaterialsā test, hoping that once I logged onto my email, Iād get the so expected āYou donāt have to take the practical exam tomorrowā message just like last year.
Being excused from the practical exam is considered the highlight of the subject: Youāve showed how well you can do and how much you know. Youāve impressed the teacher.
But today, unlike last year, I wasnāt.
And let me tell you something, I was crushed.
Iām not a star student, but Iām not ignorant either. Call me ordinary: I know what Iām doing, I know what I have to do and why Iām doing it.
And I wasnāt excused. And it feels like a failure. And it sucks a lot. But tomorrow Iām gonna show up and ace that goddamn test and send it into oblivion. Tomorrow Iām gonna show my teacher he made a mistake. Iām gonna show he shouldāve paid more attention to the quiet girl in the corner.
Iām gonna prove to myself Iām not a failure.
