#multiple platforms

a little bit of context before i get into this:

i was on my phone and i wanted to add more tags to my recent fic and i tried editing it. but to my surprise, it let me add more tags but it deleted all my text when i checked back a few hours later! i was really sad and i had to basically scrounge my notes to find my fic draft and try and edit that bc i forgot to save it. and so i re-uploaded that old fic to still have something for my readers. but here’s where i realized how lucky i actually was:

i have two other accounts for fanfiction (same username, i think) on wattpad and quotev. late last night/today early morning (like 3 am, friends) i didn’t want to sleep so i uploaded part of my fic up to both websites and saved it. now, i can copy n paste that here so it’s the original fic and then i’m saved!

okay story-time over and moral of the story:

have multiple accounts, not only does this help when mishaps like these happen but also makes you target a larger audience!

make sure to save your finished fics on a different platform (ex. google docs, notes, anything really, as long as it is reliable) 

when editing something and it looks sus, stop and exit without saving because you don’t really know what might be happening but if you can, copy the text that is still there and save it somewhere else for the time being

try not to edit on your phone in general

editing on a larger device like a computer or laptop is preferable as mobile devices can sometimes cause more mess than efficiency

and of course, be careful! there’s a lot of things that can go wrong and i hope no one goes through the sheer panic i did

I know I posted about it like a week ago, but no one asked, so I was actually kind of bummed today when I realized that perhaps no one wanted to follow me there too, you know? So thank you so much for asking, this really means a lot to me.

There’s not much on there now because I just wanted to put the works I liked best up there, especially my latest ones because I feel like my writing has improved since that point. I’ll definitely be uploading everything from now on from here up there too just for backup and more exposure.
