I'm currently a deeply closeted trans woman and the thing that really gives me dysphoria is my body hair.
I'm like fully fuzzy and this was never an issue when I was nonbinary, but now I'm starting to feel more femme, my chest hair is getting in the way of feeling great.
Do you have any suggestions regarding what to do in such a situation? My spouse doesn't mind, but I feel removal would help me feel better and have no idea the best way to do so without irritation.
Hi Gorge, so sorry to hear you've been feeling this way
Body hair is a real struggle for a lot of girls, so don't worry, you aren't alone. You have some options, depending on where you are in your life and transition. If you are on estrogen, a lot of your body hair will thin naturally, and what new hair grows will typically be significantly reduced and much softer. And if you're not already on E, it's something to look forward to at least
As for permanent removal, laser and electrolysis treatments are your best bets. Electrolysis will permanently stop your hair from growing back. Laser does the same but is slightly less permanent. Both options are long, expensive processes, however, and probably a long way off if you're not in the right financial situation. Although it's worth saying that these treatments can be less effective depending on skin tone and hair colour. I'm definitely no expert, though, so take my word with a grain of salt. I haven't had any permanent hair removal (yet), and I'm still cunty as fuck so it's not the end of the world if these options are out of reach for now.
Your final option is to shave! shave! shave! It is tedious, it is time consuming, it feels like a sisyphean task. But it does work. Make sure you exfoliate and use a shaving cream that won't irritate your skin. And be sure to moisturise after shaving. The internet is your friend, and I'm sure there is a glut of resources detailing the best ways and routines to dehair yourself. Just be patient, and from my experience, shaving the sensitive areas is much easier than first expected.
You will eventually find the solution that works best for you, I promise. Given the patriarchal world we live in, every woman will have felt what you're feeling right now. I empathise with how you feel. It's a shitty stage of transition, but it's one we all go through.
I have the utmost faith in you, in all regards ❤️
