Trans girl, advice needed!!
Iâm a 22-year-old trans girl, and Iâve been transitioning since I was 15. Over the years, Iâve had the same core friend group of guysâmy "boys"âsince before I came out, and honestly, they were incredibly supportive when I did. Iâm lucky to have that kind of long-standing acceptance, and even though I have other circles now, this group is still one of my closest.
Now hereâs where Iâm feeling a bit conflicted. The guys are planning a classic âlads holidayâ to Portugal this summer and invited me along without hesitation. And while I was really touched by that, part of me canât help but wonderâwould it feel weird? For them, for me?
Itâs not that I think theyâd treat me badly. Itâs more that I donât want to unintentionally make anything awkward. Like, does having a girl (even one theyâve known forever) change the dynamic of a lads holiday? Should I go and just enjoy it like old times? Or is this something I should maybe sit out?
Would love to hear if anyone's been in a similar boatâwhether as a trans person or even as a cis person whoâs navigated group dynamics like this. Any perspectives welcome.
