New Lot! Monument Park
Hi everyone! It’s me again!
Today I have a park meant for my custom hood, Monument Landing! Of course you can use it in any hood you want, but I built it with this in mind!
Monument Park:
Info and download below the cut :)
My first time at @YankeeStadium since Opening Day! I’m here to see the @Mariners take on the @Yankees — I always LOVE visiting the history in this place. #MonumentPark and the Yankees Museum are musts for any #baseball fan. (It’s a 2001 #Ichiro jersey if you’re wondering.) @MLB #Bronx #NYC ⚾️ (at Yankee Stadium) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgxvV0BsL4d/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Anyone who has been to @YankeeStadium and walked through #MonumentPark knows that the number 8️⃣ was retired for two @Yankees catching greats, #YogiBerra and his predecessor and eventual coaching mentor, #BillDickey. Today’s artifact(s) of the week from the @yogiberramuseum collection include these Bill Dickey gems — a signed ball, the back of a vintage Wheaties box and a game worn cap. A #baseball #HallofFamer himself and lifetime .313 hitter, you can see Dickey in the great film #PrideoftheYankees. The story of #LouGehrig’s incredible life, other Yankees, not the least of which was #BabeRuth, appeared in the film to honor their fallen teammate and lend legitimacy to the baseball action and camaraderie. Like Yogi, Dickey served the country during WWII as a member of the Navy. He was an 11-time All-Star and a 7-time #WorldSeries champ. @baseballhall ⚾️ (at Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaFgVi9Le27/?utm_medium=tumblr
This week’s @YogiBerraMuseum memorabilia is a commemorative 8️⃣ from his number retirement ceremony by the @Yankees in 1972. Retired in honor of both #Yogi and the great #BillDickey, you’ll see both number 8’s in the @Yankees #MonumentPark. You can see THIS only at the museum! #baseball (at Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CW9U8fYPji7/?utm_medium=tumblr

Before the @Yankees game today, I took a short walk to #LouGehrigPlaza which is right across the street from the #Bronx courthouse. It was a nice way to begin a walk through #MonumentPark. Though I was there for #DerekJeter’s number retirement, I had never seen it’s placement inside the park. With him being inducted into the @BaseballHall tomorrow, I guess it was time. @YankeeStadium @MLB #NYC #baseball ⚾️ (at Yankee Stadium) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTi873bM9NG/?utm_medium=tumblr
What a night for #baseball! Perfect evening in the #Bronx for @BlueJays at @Yankees inside @YankeeStadium! Had a great time revisiting #MonumentPark. @MLB #NYC ⚾️ 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 (at Yankee Stadium) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTicERVMDmj/?utm_medium=tumblr
Yesterday @MLB commemorated the great #LouGehrig. #Gehrig’s first start came 6/2/1925. He died only 16 years later on 6/2/1941, 17 days short of turning 38. He played 2130 consecutive games, compiled amazing stats and broke a nation’s heart with his untimely passing due to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (@ALS). As a child, I watched “The Pride of the @Yankees” many times and cried. I read “My Luke and I” by his wife Eleanor. I recited his farewell speech for Public Speaking at @EmersonCollege. And I can’t remember not admiring Lou Gehrig. In fact, when I first visited the @baseballhall at 12, I was enthralled by the Gehrig memorabilia. One item in particular caught my eye, a Yankee ticket stub from July 4, 1941. Lou Gehrig’s #MonumentPark monument was to be unveiled. Also, #JoeDiMaggio had hit in 45 straight games. Well, the game got rained out and the actual dedication was July 6. Years later, I purchased a collection of 1910-20s baseball cards. The seller was so happy it was going to someone who would appreciate it he added a 1950s Yankees program and a mini wooden baseball bat pen with the #LouisvilleSlugger and Yankees logos. He just wanted me to have them. No extra charge. Then in the best Steve Jobs/Columbo “one more thing” moment I’ve ever experienced, he pulls out two ticket stubs from the Lou Gehrig Memorial Game. Not sure how my head didn’t explode as he describe holding onto them since he had attended the game all those years ago. He insisted he was going to keep one. The other was mine. Yeah, apparently there is a Santa Claus. Several years back I had PSA grade it, 1 Poor, the lowest grade. That’s the first picture you see here. Of course, it will ALWAYS be a 10 Gem Mint to me. Much later on, I purchased two more stubs from the game and the collection now stands at three — nice additions to my 1933 Goudey Gehrig. I hope today and future Lou Gehrig Days continue to shed light on a great man and, more importantly, help fund the fight to cure ALS. Lou Gehrig never wanted the awful disease that killed him to be named for him and it’s way beyond time that we remove ALS itself from the lexicon — by curing it. #4ALS (at Rockaway, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPqpmNVBqm0/?utm_medium=tumblr
