DSMP lore thoughts “The Prison” pts 1-5
“Ok today we will be analyzing and sharing our thoughts about the five lore streams from Awesamdude about being trapped in the prison.
This is directly after the “Saving Michael” Streams from Techno, Tubbo, and Eret. The rescue team all agree Sam has been being a not great guy recently and decide the best course of action is to trap him in his own prison to repent and pay.
These streams have a lot of manipulation from c!Dream so be warned. It was a crazy stream and a lot like exile. I really like these streams because Sam does need to realize he messed up, but it’s also just always so interesting to go into Dream and what he has to say. We know he is a manipulator so we need to take his words with a grain of salt, but some of what he says does seem kinda true.
tw for mentions of ROLE PLAY abuse, manipulation, torture.
Ok before be begin diving into these five streams, I want to bring up two points.
1. Sam supposedly has multiple bodies. When I was first watching Sam get thrown in the prison I assumed he seemed so lack because he had a statis chamber, or because he had multiple bodies so it didn’t matter if one got stuck.
Sam has multiple bodies, but we don’t know what that means. Is there one true sam who sits somewhere switching between robot bodies, does he have clones that share a consciousness? We don’t know. All we know is he told Boomer he had multiple bodies, and no one else knows.
In respect to the bodies, how does Sam’s life system work? If he is one guy in a chair controlling bodies, if one dies does he get hurt, or does it not matter? If they are clones does it matter if one dies? Again, we don’t know anything.
2. I want us to remember that Sam’s character has changed a lot through the time on the smp. cc!Sam says he doesn’t want to be a main character, and is one of the people that just likes being the supporting cast for others.
There is a person on twitter who is live tweeting about watching the whole smp. I think their name is Marley maybe. While coming across them they were currently at the exile arc, and talking about how nice and awesome Sam was, and how he could do no wrong, and this really got me to thinking.
In the beginning of the smp, Sam is more of a pacifist median, he doesn’t engage in the battle, but he is there for others when they need him. He makes and shares his house with Sapnap and George, and is really kind to everyone. He even has nice interactions with Tommy before exile.
He then joins the Bad Lands faction, which still isn’t too bad. Badboyhalo made it so they could have power, lets not forget, but the Badlands never did anything too wrong if I can recall. So despite now being part of a faction, Sam is still himself and kind to all.
In exile Sam is very sweet to Tommy, offering his home if Tommy needs it. And Sam’s home isn’t in the smp or L’manburg, so it’s technically not leaving exile. Sadly Tommy never takes his offer though.
Then Sam is there for Tommy after doomsday, he suggests locking Dream in the prison, and that’s when he starts to sacrifice his self. It doesn’t start to badly. Sam and Tommy hotel arc is one of my favorite parts of the smp, just because of how nice and calm it was after everything we the audience and the characters had gone through. It was very sweet. Sam was one of the only people Tommy actually talked to and told about exile and Dream. Sam protected Tommy from the egg people and other threats.
Sam during the eggpire arc was going through his change, but for the most part he was the same, against the egg and willing to do what he could to defeat and destroy it. He was the only Badland member to not get infected. The egg kept coming for him, but he didn’t give in or up.
Then, we come to his time as The Warden. When becoming the warden, Sam decided to sacrifice himself and his life to keeping Dream in prison. He gave up seeing the outside, his friends, and devoted his time to doing whatever he could to keep Dream locked up. They needed Dream alive so he could bring back wilbur and get the revivebook. Sam lost himself in this, and went to far in what he was willing to do to keep Dream locked up. It was rough, but it’s important to remember that he originally did this, he continues to this, because he thinks it’s for the greater good of others. He decided to give up his own life to do what he thought would protect others. But it didn’t end up that way in the end.
A quick list of some of the misdeeds of Sam that he will talk about in the streams.
When Tommy was stuck in the prision Sam decided to keep him there for a whole week, despite knowing Dream was Tommy’s abuser, and that Dream probably wouldn’t hesitate to kill Tommy, and he did. Sam decided that stopping whoever was trying to get Dream out of the prison was more important then keeping Tommy safe and getting him out.
Sam and Ponk always had a great relationship. They were friends, maybe more wink wink. But then Ponk felt Sam was getting to far into being the Warden, and wanted to spend time with Sam like the good old days, and maybe also just play a prank. So he took a prison keycard. The keycards expire at midnight each day, so there wasn’t really a problem with Ponk having it after that time, but Sam decided he needed to punish ponk. Show Ponk that he was serious and meant business. He built and Trapped Ponk in a torture room, took one of his lives, and cut off his arm, just to prove his point. Just for some broken keycards. It was also this event that led Ponk to fall into the egg’s hands, wanting Sam back.
Tommy is insisting they kill Dream, but Sam says no and that it’s job to keep Dream alive in the prison. The whole reason they kept Dream was so they could have the revivebook and revive wilbur, but Tommy went to limbo and realizes it’s not worth it anymore, they don’t need Wilbur. Despite Tommy saying this Sam still says no. So Tommy takes it into his own hands and sneaks into the prison to kill Dream, using Ghostbur as a distraction. And look, it was a stupid plan, but I’ll give Tommy the pass because he was stressing out, and didn’t know he was falling right into Dream’s trap. Sam eventually realizes Tommy is there right as Tommy is about to kill Dream, and Sam stops him. Forcing Tommy back to the other side, but not helping and making sure Ghostbur gets across. Tommy yells at Sam to get ghostbur back, but Sam says he can’t risk Dream escaping, and so Dream revives wilbur. Tommy is furious, and so is Sam, but at Tommy. Sam tells Tommy if Tommy comes near the prison again Sam will kill him. Sam knows that Tommy wants Dream dead but still says Tommy could have been trying to help Dream escape.
Sam helps and agrees with Quackity about torturing Dream for the revivebook. He is egging Quackity on and not stopping this violence. Dream needs to pay for his mistakes, but torture isn’t the way. Sam just watches as quackity does inhuman stuff to Dream.
Sam does not give Dream good food. Does not let Dream go to court yard. Yes Dream had originally made this changes himself before being put in the prison, but if Sam thought they were inhuman, and that Dream was evil. he should have run the prison his way and not Dream’s.
Then Sam and Quackity together trick Technoblade into visiting Dream and getting stuck in the prison, trapping both of them together. No reason for Technoblade to be there besides ‘he was going to help Dream escape.’ and that may have been true, but it also might not have been, and so Sam started the problem. He left Technoblade in there for three months until Technoblade escaped.
They later think Dream escaped but he didn’t, and Sam decides to lie to Quackity about Dream escaping. Maybe he did this to be kind to Dream and stop Dream from being tortured as much, we don’t know. But he lied to Big Q which led to Quackity living in fear from himself and his nation. Then feeling betrayed and unprepared for when Dream actually escaped.
Sam kidnaps Michael. Eret had saved Michael from getting killed and attack by George and Sapnap, and decided to trust and tell Sam of Michaels location, Sam promising to make a safer hiding place. But instead he takes Michael to his island and keeps him hostage there, only telling Eret that ‘it’s for the greater good.’ then when Tubbo comes and wants to see his child, Sam refuses to let him see him, and threatens to kill him.
We still don’t really know why, but Sam found something on Ranboo to justify bringing him to the prison. It was Ranboo’s birthday, and Sam harshly comes and arrests Ranboo. Then as Dream and company are escaping, Sam decides to hold Ranboo hostage by telling Ranboo that Sam has Michael and will kill him if Ranboo doesn’t comply. Dream doesn’t stop, and so Sam kills Ranboo, and then doesn’t seem to show regret or remorse ever. Sam later says he needed Michael to control Ranboo, who he needed to control Technoblade, who could convince Dream.
After Dream’s escape Sam is being really rude to everyone basically. He yells at Antfrost and Bbh and blames them for it. He won’t admit to his own faults and just blames others.
Ok so maybe not so quick. Those are the main points I could think of. Point being: Sam has done some messed up things in order to try to keep Dream in the prison. Sam tried to justify them, and as the warden he shows no remorse. Yes we know he wanted and mourned Tommy on his island, yes after Dream escaped he went to make sure Tommy was safe. So he has some good in him, but he really messed up.
Now with that out of the way, onto the streams.

Stream 1 “Dream SMP| Stuck in Prison” January 30th
- It opens with Sam in his cell, he doesn’t know what he is going to do now. There really isn’t much for him to do in the cell.
- he starts saying maybe he should have planned for this, to get stuck in the prison. He doesn’t know what to do, but is happy that no one got control of the prison because only he can control the keycards.
- He goes through Dream’s book, but alas there is nothing.
- Tries to see if there is a way to escape, break blocks, but there is nothing. He made this prison inescapable. There has to be a way though.
- He starts thinking that surely someone will come for him. Someone will notice him missing and come looking. Maybe Hannah or Boomer. He thinks of Ant and BBH, then remembering that they’re mad at him. (He’s trying to think of people who can help him, not realizing he pushed most of them away. Even if he is on ok terms with some, they’ll just assume he’s still at the prison waiting for Dream to return like he was before.) He then also realizes that wait, no one can get in to the prison, the keycards don’t work. He really thought his plan would trap the revengers with him.
- He is spiraling a lot and still trying to think of ways to escape. It will take time, but he’ll just have to dig his way out. It’s a back and forth in his mind, hope and then a loss of hope. Up and down.
Eventually he turns and Dream is there, standing outside the cell, they are both surprised. Dream is surprised but also amused that Sam is in the cell. Dream threatens Sam, and so he explains why he is in there and Dream finds it hilarious. Dream then also tells us he’s been using the route Techno took for their escape to get in and out of the prison, and that he’s using it as a bit of a base. It’s fortified, no one will come near it, suspect it, it’s perfect.
- Sam wants food and Dream says he doesn’t have any. (He does have food, just not for Sam)
- Dream jumps into the cell using an ender pearl, and Sam is slightly more scared. Dream really wants karma on Sam and so is trying to annoy Sam.
- Dreams proposal is that Sam stay in the prison for a year, Dream will visit every now and then. Sam lives and suffers there just like Dream, and the after a year Dream will kill him.
- Dream calls Sam evil and the ultimate subject of these Streams begins. Is Sam Evil?
- Sam denies it instantly saying he’s not. But Dream says other wise cause Sam let him be tortured. Dream would kill Sam now, just for that, but he believes in justice. Dream brings up Sam killing Ranboo and how that was stupid, and Sam gives his reasoning that doesn’t make too much sense.
- Dream continues saying how great this is, and that maybe he can get Quackilty in there to torture him, or maybe lock them both up together. Sam tries to say he has people outside that would stop Dream, and Dreams asks him if he really does? and that he isn’t afraid of whatever ’people’ Sam has. Dream threatens to force Sam to write books telling people he is staying in the prison feeling sad that Dream escaped.
Dream calls Sam an idiot. Sam is real quick to try to make a deal with Dream. Saying Dream can let him out and he’ll tell people he doesn’t know where Dream is. Or that he found Dream and that Dream is in prison again and they don’t have to look for him.
Dream mocks him and agrees that he’ll come and feed Sam, get him a clock, make Sam give him info. Then kill Sam, sooner if if doesn’t agree.
Dream calls Quackity a sociopath, for his actions. How yeah he’s sure Quackity would love to come and help Sam and all, and Sam says “The thing with Quackity is.. regrettable.” in regards to the torture. Sam still says it was worth it for the revivebook though, and he was right about Techno coming to break Dream free.
Dream mocks him about how he says ‘regrettable’ and tells him yeah Techno came to save him from literal torture. That Sam should just admit he’s an evil guy, which Sam denies. “You trap people, you kill people, you torture people, just own up to it.” And Sam just keeps saying that no, he’s not a bad guy. That he won’t own up to it, cause it isn’t true.
Dream says he owns up to being a horrible person, and Sam says he doesn't. Dream then goes on to say yes he does, he knows he did bad things, he owns up to it, he has his reasons, but those aren't excuses, and Sam should do the same.
Dream says he does bad things, he does them for a reason though, but that doesn’t change that they are bad. And that he isn’t going to say sorry cause he’s not, he had his reasons. Sam pipes up and says that well he isn’t sorry for what he did either, and that he’s not bad, (oh gosh.)
Sam then admits that he looked forward to everyday Quackity came in to torture Dream cause maybe then they’d have the revivebook, and maybe then Sam could finally kill Dream. Dream applauds him for admitting it, and now asks that he simply admits he’s a bad guy. That ok, Sam had a reason for the torture, and he gets it.
Dream goes on a bit more about how he’s definitely going after Quackity and going to destroy everything he loves and lock him in the prison. Sam asks him what the point of this all is, and if Dream enjoys the misfortune of others. Dream says no, that it’s just revenge and karma.
Dream mentions bringing Sam kibble, (and wow going rough on that dehumanization Dream.)
Dream makes fun of Sam for wanting Food when Dream wasn’t given much food. And Sam brings up the point about how he was following Dream’s prison directions, no streak, and Dream brings us that nothing was stopping Sam from changing things. Dream says maybe it was karma on himself making it so people couldn’t get streak, then he couldn’t get streak, and so ok, it’s karma.
Dream tells Sam the story of Pandora’s box, what the prison is named after. How by keeping Dream trapped in this box, he made Dream more and more angry, until Dream and evil was released back into the world.
Dream leaves the cell and says he is going to try to figure out the keycards himself, and that he’ll figure it out. Sam doubts it. Dream continues to call Sam an idiot. Sam tries to get Dream to stay, but Dream says no, Dream has ‘business’ to get to, and that they have all year to talk to each other. Sam keeps calling for Dream to come back, but he doesn’t. The Stream ends.

Stream 2 DREAM SMP | Trapped in my own prison.
-It’s the next day and Sam is waiting for Dream to return and bring him food. He is going to starve.
- Sam starts feeling like this is worthless, calling himself an idiot, before stopping himself saying that no Dream is wrong. He isn’t and idiot. He brings out a book that reveals he has been repeatedly writing down “I am not an idiot” a lot since we last saw him. Sam starts to wonder what he’ll do when Dream doesn’t return, and that he’ll find some way to escape.
Dream shows up.
- Sam immediately asks for food.
- Dream asks him what he’s been doing, has he been thinking, and Sam doesn’t have to much to say. He says he’s not an idiot though, because he was able to figure out it had been a day since Dream had last visited.
- Dream then officially starts their day off by asking “Are you a good person?” Sam says that yes he is. And Dream asks if he really thinks that.
Sam says he has done bad things, but they’re not inherently bad, he’s doing them for the greater good. Meaning that even if they seem not good, they’re not bad. Dream chuckles. So the ends justify the means, so it’s ok? and Sam agrees. They have a conversation, and Dream asks Sam to mention the bad things he’s done, the things people hate him for, or Dream will leave.
Sam begins to list all the bad points I already listed, and how he doesn't think they were that bad. He doesn’t get why people are mad about Michael. (Dream brings up how he wanted Wilbur alive, so he would torture Tommy. And yes he has technically.) How he threatened to kill Ranboo, and he had to keep his word and do so if Dream didn’t comply. He’d rather be a murderer then a coward and dishonest. Sam mentions most of the bad things, leaving out torturing Dream and everything he did to Technoblade. Dream is upset by this
Sam says locking Dream in prison isn't a reason people hate Sam, people are grateful. Dream brings up how he is, in fact a person, and hates Sam for it. Sam says ok he guesses, but he has no regrets for any of these things, they were all for the greater good.
So he murder, kidnapped, tortured, taken hostage, mutilated, and stolen, all for what Sam calls the greater good. Dream says that’s really bad, and that even he hasn’t gone that far. (Not true though, Dream has in fact done most of these things, maybe besides kidnapping.) Dream says ok maybe he’s tortured, but just mental torture, which no he hit Tommy physically in exile and other instances.
So Dream’s point is that Dream is a bad guy, maybe he deserves to be locked up, so then why doesn’t Sam? (Now Dream is bringing up some good valid points, but remember he is lying about some things like the torture, trying to manipulate Sam.)
Sam simply says it was different when he did it. Dream did these things for himself, while Sam did them in order to keep Dream, who had done bad things, in the prison. Dream argues that then Sam is implying Dream doesn’t have reasons for what he’s done, that he does it just cause he wants to. And Sam says yes, he believes Dream does things because he enjoys it. Dream rebutted saying the same could be said for Sam. Sam defends himself saying he has expressed that's not true, but Dream brings up how Sam literally said the pervious day he liked Quackity torturing Dream, and that he was excited to kill him.
Sam continues to say that it’s different for Dream. That Sam is justified because “A wrong for the right reasons can make a right” And Dream says good, they both agree upon that then. Dream does things wrong, for reasons he thinks are right, so they are the same.
Dream says Sam isn’t actually a bad person, that he’s done terrible things, but if Sam is bad then almost everyone on the server is bad. (Remember the manipulation. While I do agree mostly and I love them bringing up the “it’s all about perspective” I do think some people haven't done as bad things, Sam has made many mistakes.)
Dream continues to make his point by bringing up his experiences, how it was right for him to do what he did to L’manburg because they were a tyrannical government that was taking land that didn’t belong to them, and trying to get people to follow laws. That yeah Dream did bad things, he calls himself a bad guy, but he had reasons, and he thought they were for the greater good.
Dream continues saying Sam and him are the same. “I think you’re me, if I was a lying coward. With no self reflection what’s so ever” Dream goes on a tangent about how Sam is just as bad as him, but is overlooked and won’t admit to it.
Dream questions why Ranboo and Connor were even locked in the prison? And who gave Sam the power to just lock up whoever he wanted without a trial. “Congrats the power got to your head Sam”. Dream says he likes Sam, Sam is entertaining. It’s funny how Sam does all this messed up stuff and somehow can’t realize how bad it is. That maybe when Sam realizes he’s the bad guy, Sam can start improving and stop getting into these situations where he does bad things.
Sam argues about what Dream said about him not standing up for himself, saying he does. He stands up for the prison, and that's standing up for himself. He brings up Ponk to justify this. He then goes on to say yeah it wasn’t about the keycard, it was the message for people to not mess with him. He did that to ponk, killed and one less arm, for a message. “It’s just a means to an end though.”
Dream continues to manipulate him by saying “Look I don’t think you’re evil, I don’t think that’s evil.” Dream is going back and forth between saying Sam is bad, saying it's wrong but not evil, saying they’re the same, saying Sam isn’t that bad. Dream says he understand why Sam did it to Ponk, it makes sense. And that he’d feel justified in killing Sam right now, but it’d still be “a bad thing to do.”
[This lore is so great cause Dream is giving us bits of the truth, he’s not technically wrong, but he is leaving out and twisting parts. And as a viewer I’m trying to watch so hard so I also don’t get manipulated. ]
Dream says he’d find enjoyment in killing Sam, and Sam says it was technically Dream’s fault he got put in the prison. He made the prison, he payed for it. Maybe he should have spent that money on Punz. ( I laugh knowing that Punz never betrayed Dream. I thought Dream might bring it up, but he doesn’t. He doesn’t mention Punz or Ranboo working for him) Sam tries to smirk and have the upper hand by pointing out Punz’s betray, but we all know the truth so it doesn’t stick.
Dream manages to turn it around asking Sam how he feels being betrayed by everyone. Sam says he doesn't know, no one has betrayed him. Dream says that wait, he escaped prison, by Technoblade getting the blueprints, who he got from BadBoyhalo. Sam rears back not believing Bad would do that to him. Dream continues by pointing out how Tubbo put Sam in the prison, and how wasn’t Tubbo Sam’s ally? Dream also make a point to point out that the Revengers team were all enemies who hate each other, and they still all teamed up to put Sam in here.
Dream says maybe he won’t kill Sam in a year. Maybe he’ll give Sam the opportunity to talk to people, ask Bad about the betrayal. That maybe after some reflection he’ll let Sam live. Sam doesn’t understand what reflection, and it’s showing us that he isn’t even willing to try to think that maybe he did some bad stuff. Dream says all he wants, is for Sam to realize he’s not a good person, and then maybe Dream will let him go.
Sam continues to say that no, he’s a good person. And so Dream askes him what his definition of good person is. Sam responds “A person who does what they think is best for something they believe is good.” Sam says everything he did was for the good of keeping Dream here. And Dream says everything he’s done was because he thought it would lead to “the best result for himself and for everybody.”
Sam brings up how his motives are selfless and Dream is selfish. Dream did it for himself, while Sam gave up everything to come run the prison. Dream says “How selfless of you to give up not doing anything everyday, to torture and keep me in here.” And Sam says once more, “The torturing was just a means to an end.”
Sam says how he told Dream that he would “let Dream leave if he gave them the book.” But again we have Sam saying, not even a day ago, that he was going to kill Dream the moment they got the book. Dream then yells at him for lying. That he needs to stop lying to himself and Dream, that if he continues he’s never going to be able to be honest with anyone, that he needs to man up for his words and actions.
Dream is mad and says if Sam is just going to lie, then Dream won’t visit. He throws Sam some streak and leaves. Sam tries to get him to stop and come back, asking when Dream will return, but it’s no use. The stream ends.

part 3 DREAM SMP | Trapped in a prison of my own creation.
- It’s February 2nd now, Dream has been gone for two days, Sam has started to spiral more. Latching onto some of Dreams words and ideals but not others.
It starts and Sam is freaking out that Dream hasn’t returned. He’s sure its been more than a day (and it has). He is still hungry and worried about starving, and Dream just abandoning him in the prison.
Sam once again tries to come up with a plan to escape. He shows off some of his math skills telling us how hard and long it would take him to begin to escape. But he doesn’t have time to start mining that, he’ll starve before he can escape.
Sam is still optimistic that maybe Dream will let him out. “Dream is his only hope. Or else he’s just done for.” He asks how it’s come to this. He says he doesn’t deserve it. He brings up how non of his statis chambers have gone off, so his only escape is to break out.
He thinks again about the argument with Dream. He believes he did everything for the greater good, so he doesn’t deserve it. He was just trying to help. He’s not a bad guy. “Dream is the bad guy. And the bad guy can’t call someone else the bad guy.”
After calling out to dream more with no avail, Sam says. “Maybe Dream was right. Maybe I am a bad guy. But if I’m a bad guy then he’s a worse bad guy. He’s the real bad guy gotta be the real bad guy. Think about what he’s done, what he’s said he’s done, what he’s going to do. Dream is the bad guy here.”
“If Dream says I’m a bad guy, then doesn’t that make everyone a bad guy? If nobody can do something right, because to someone else that would be being the bad guy” (Oh ok yeah that's what I like to hear. Once again I love the whole morally grey characters that are all their own main character in their individual stories. So yeah people clash and end up as enemies.)
Sam continues to battle with his mind. Saying that no he’s not, cant be the bad guy. “I’m the good guy, that had bad things happen to him. Yeah I’m the good guy who was put in hard situations, because of Dream.” “If I hadn’t done what I did, Dream might have escaped sooner. And we could have been in a bad situation like this even before.” (Sam is in denial, but it’s understandable.)
“Dream was right, everybody’s done bad things. Everybody, everyone's kinda a bad guy, but Dream’s, Dream’s the real bad guy.” (ok That one checks out mostly Sam. It’s a bit closer to the truth.)
Sam again goes down that he’s not a bad guy, but now adding other people are. He goes on about how Technoblade and Eret trapped him here, they’ve both killed people before, Technoblade blew up L’manburg, they’re the bad guys.
He goes on about perspective again, about people being the bad guy in other people’s stories. That surely if someone could hear his reasoning, that they would understand and see he isn’t bad. (While yes I get your reasoning Sam, it doesn’t make it ok still, it’s still bad. And the Ranboo death is still unforgivable.)
“Am I really the bad guy to some people? I never even meant to do anything wrong” (That’s good, it means you’re not a ‘real’ bad guy as I called it. You just make really bad mistakes.) He goes over what he did to Ranboo and Michael again, but still denies it was wrong. Still thinks it’s ok because it was the right reasons. He says he had to do those things, and it’s sounding a lot like he needed control. He says he needed Ranboo to control Dream. Which is kinda like how Dream used items to control people, except Sam uses people to control people.
He continues to wonder where Dream is, what he’s doing. He could be planning something and no one knows, no one can stop him, only Sam can stop him. He needs Dream to visit a few more times, give him food and such, and then he can escape. “No one’s coming to help me.” He makes his plan, he has to die. He has to dig until he dies through starvation, and then continue to dig his way out.
“I have to get out. I won’t accept that I’m the bad guy” He brings back out that book. It now has additional writing and pages saying ‘I am not the bad guy’ and ‘Dream is the bad guy’. Then he writes that Technoblade is the bad guy, that Eret is the bad guy, but “not me, I’m not the bad guy.” “And the good guys, have to work harder to be good guys” (well then you have to work A Lot harder Sam, because you are not in the good guy zone right now.)
So yeah point of the stream, the denial is strong, he is victimizing himself, and blaming the people he’s hurt. The stream ends, Dream doesn’t show up, and Sam is still in denial for if he’s the bad guy, but we can see that wall thinning, and he is now agreeing with Dream on some things like others being ‘bad guys’. Sam is shaky yet sure that he needs to escape. He may have to die to do so, but he’ll find a way.

February 3 DREAM SMP | The prison. Part 4
This stream was horrifying with all the manipulation and lies. It’s also the longest one. I was very uncomfortable with some of the stuff c!Dream was saying, and some of the audience bought it. It was sad and scary seeing so many people agree with Dream after this. I saw almost a whole comment section talking about how Tommy is the bad guy and buying in to everything Dream said. Remember everyone, Dream is a lying manipulator. Tommy has made mistakes, everyone on this sever has, but he didn’t deserve Exile or for Dream to kill him in the prison, it was abuse, it was wrong.
------
Stream starts with Sam trying to break a block. He is loosing hope and is sure he is going to die. Dream shows up and gives Sam food cause he really needs it. Dream also brings Sam a cake as a ‘gift’ (Manipulation).
Dream mentions being on his ‘island’ which is also something he said with Punz, (maybe where the lab is?) Dream realizes he said island though and so tries to cover is up by saying “metaphorical island’.
Dream has been gone a day, was last in Sam’s cell two days ago. Dream asks if he’s thought about things. Sam says he has, there’s not much else to do, and that he does think Dream is right about some things. Being there a bad people, being Technoblade and Eret, but he still doesn’t think he’s a bad person. Dream says good, progress, and rewards Sam a clock. (Manipulation)
Dream next asks if Sam likes him, does Sam think Dream’s a good person? Sam says no. Dream responds that ok, does he think that even though Dream isn’t good, everyone else is equally bad? Sam says he doesn’t think ‘equally’ bad, but yeah there are some pretty bad people. Then Dream asks again, if Sam thinks he’s a good person, and Sam still believes himself to be, but is clearly a bit unsure.
[Now getting into the big manipulation and we don’t know what's true section]
Dream hums and then asks Sam to tell him what makes Dream a bad person, but not Sam. Sam says that he thinks, that Dream is a bad person because he wants to personally take things from people to control them, in a malicious way.
Dream steps in and says he doesn’t, he doesn’t want to control people. (We know this is false, unless he was also lying to Tommy and Tubbo in the vault which could be a possibility. But it seems pretty obvious he wants to control the server, or at least Tommy) Dream tells Sam he wants people to ‘do the right things’, but he doesn’t want to control them.
Sam is confused by Dreams response, and brings up that he thought that was why Dream was trying to get and collect everything everyone liked. Dream tells him it was all just for show for Tommy. He wouldn’t actually lock Skeppy in a box. (Now this is where we have to question, how true is this? Yes we know the vault was a set up, Dream intended to be captured and put in prison for some reason. So yeah him pretending he was going to do this stuff, putting on a show to seem more evil, does check out. But he still might have wanted to collect people’s possessions, it’s just like the discs, control. Something to think more about.)
Sam brings up the pets though, Dream had some peoples pets? And Dream says they were just random animals. What, did he resurrect Tommy’s dead cow? (Well I assumed he did, Tommy seemed to think so.) Dream says the revive book doesn’t work on pets (Can we believe this?). Sam takes notes on the things Dream says, such as the revival book.
Dream mentions the only real item he had of someone’s was the axe of peace, but he didn’t steal that from Techno, he’d be crazy to challenge Techno. Dream says he doesn’t remember where he found the axe, and we know he took it from Tommy when they were in the vault.
Dream ask Sam to continue listing his misdeeds. Sam mentions exile, having Tommy trapped on the island. How Tommy has to be afraid of Dream for a reason.
[ Time for the half twisted truths and lies]
Dream responds that how is exile bad? Tommy was being bad, and was Exiled by Tubbo. ( Dream was threatening L’manburg, walls or Tommy gets exiled. Tubbo felt forced. Tommy also made the mistake of trying to black mail Dream with his dead horse though, making Dream more mad, making Tubbo mad, Which brought Tubbo to the decision that trying to fight Dream was not reasonable, Tommy was being bad, so he would take responsibility and be exiled. We also have to remember that Dream had been trying to frame Tommy and get him in trouble, made the George’s house deal way bigger then it needed to be. Houses get griefed all the time, and it was an accident. Tommy was only supposed to be exiled from L’manburg, but Dream decided he’s be exiled from the whole smp, so took Tommy to the exile island to isolate him. Once Tommy was exiled Dream removed George from the throne, only having him there to make it easier to get Tommy in trouble, by calling the greifing “an act of war”.)
So Dream says Tubbo Exiled Tommy, that all Dream did was visit him, and give him food, talk to him. Tried to rehabilitate him from making stupid decisions again. That Tommy just kept making mistakes again and again, so Dream took it upon himself to teach him. That Dream stayed around to make sure he wasn’t leaving or doing bad things.
Sam says he guesses that doesn’t sound to bad. (But again Dream over simplified things. He didn’t mention the physical and mental torture. That he kept food from Tommy, items from Tommy, made Tommy dependent. Lied to Tommy saying no one cared for him. That Dream kept threatening to kill him. He lies to Sam with half truths and simplification.)
Dream says that how was it his fault Tommy was exiled? Tommy was destroying and blowing things up. That Tommy had some position and was supposed to be behaved but didn’t, and again says it was Tubbo who exiled him. Leaving out Dream’s role to play, the framing, and I don’t think Tommy did that much destruction, Dream is making it seem like something it’s not. Yes Tommy made mistakes, but those mistakes were the same ones everyone else made, and Dream decided to target and overcomplicate everything just to get to Tommy.
Sam falls for Dream’s words though and says that doesn’t sound that bad. Dream then says that yeah he said some things to Tommy that maybe weren’t great, but he felt it was for Tommy’s greater good.
Sam again asks that if Exile wasn’t that bad, then why does Tommy hate Dream so much? And Dream responds because Dream won Tommy’s disks. He goes on about the disc war, not mentioning how he started by stealing the disks. He only brings up the L’manburg independence where Tommy gave them up for his country. Dream says he won the disks fair and square, Tommy gave them to him. Dream says that from that moment they were Dream’s disks, and that it was Tommy who then kept trying to steal them. And doesn’t that make Tommy wrong? ( But he leaves out how the disk wars started. How he kept egging Tommy on with the disks for him to try to get them back. Tommy gave up the discs for independence, and once L’manburg was gone, he wanted them back. During Doomsday it was Dream who sought him out to come ‘play a game’ with him to get the disc back.)
While ok yeah, Tommy gave up the disks... Dream only accepted them because of how much they meant to Tommy. He only did it to have control on Tommy, and Tommy didn’t like that. Yeah Tommy was ‘stealing them back’ but the fight was never fair, and Dream kept bringing the fight back to the board.
Sam is falling for everything Dream is saying, and says that yeah, ok Dream kinda earned them, Tommy didn’t. But that Tommy is just a child though, he’d want his things back. Dream says yep, that Tommy makes mistakes and he’ll learn from them, and that's what Dream was doing. He never said Tommy couldn’t learn and grow, and he thinks Sam can learn and grow too. Sam just needs to admit he’s not a great person.
Dream asks what else Sam thinks he’s done? and Sam is struggling to think of anything. He brings up how Dream was going to kill Tubbo in the vault, and Dream says again that ‘it was just a show for Tommy’ That it was to teach Tommy and scare him into not being bad. (In Tommy’s first prison visit he also said the first person he’d kill when he gets out would be Tubbo. Do we think he was serious or was it more dramatics?)
Dream says he thinks Tubbo is one of the few people who hadn’t actually done anything that bad. Which of course he’d say that, he already said Tubbo played right into all his traps and tricks, did exactly what Dream wanted him to do. Tubbo is great like everyone else, his faults are a bit harder to realize due to influence of others, but like everyone else, he had made mistakes. But yeah I gotta agree that Tubbo hasn’t done all that much compared to others who have done much worse.
Dream says “who is really good on this server? BadBoyHalo?” That didn’t Bad do that egg cult thing? That they thought locking Dream up would solve all their issues but it didn’t. That sure they eventually stopped the egg, but Bad did some messed up things. Who else, Wilbur, well he blew up countries, he’s no good. Techno has done the same. That all these people have done these awful things, but it’s only Dream that gets punished. (Kinda parallels to Tommy that he makes the same mistakes as everyone, but only he gets punished to this degree.)
Sam goes on to say he really hates Technoblade. That Yeah Techno is not better then Dream. (Gosh Sam hasn’t had much to think about. But yeah from his perspective why would he think Techno is ok? Why wouldn’t Sam think he’s bad, Sam barely knows him. Techno made a bunch of mistakes, but unlike Sam he’s owned up to them, and doesn’t call himself a hero.)
Sam brings up that Techno broke Dream out of prison, which was against the majority vote, and so Dream asks him who the majority of people are? Sam says everyone who was in the vault when they captured Dream, and Dream points out Techno wasn’t there, he didn’t vote. That Techno doesn’t have to be ok with Sam just locking people in the prison, Sam had two other poisoners and Techno wanted Ranboo. “Whos going to stop you, from going ahead and convincing the majority of the server to lock up everybody. And then the majority gets smaller and smaller until it’s only Sam” (Which yeah Dream does kinda have a point there. There is no law system so Sam did and can just lock up whoever he wants with no say from anyone else, and that's not good.)
Techno just came to visit Dream in the prison, it was Sam who lock him in there, making him more angry and recognizing Sam as an authority he had to take down. Techno might not have broken Dream out, Sam couldn’t have been sure, and it wasn’t right to lock people up on ‘maybes.’ It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Sam was scared something was going to happen, acted on that, and in doing so caused that thing to happen.
Sam argues that it was good reasoning, and that Dream literally yelled “It’s a trap” when Techno was coming in. Dream explains to him YES, it was at trap, he was warning, Techno, his friend, that it was a trap to lock him in the prison. Yes he was going to warn Techno after he’s spent months being tortured.
Dream brings up that Sam killing Ranboo didn’t make sense, that at least everything Dream did made sense. Dream says Sam using Ranboo didn’t make sense because Dream barely knows Ranboo, he wouldn’t care (but we know this isn’t true, there’s something going on with Dream and Ranboo) Sam again tries to explain his reasoning, but it doesn’t make sense man, it isn’t smart or right.
Dream says Sam shouldn’t be so mad at everyone's response and locking him up. Sam says they are awful for locking him up though. Dream takes Sam’s side, softly, saying that he doesn’t think Sam deserves to be in here, he thinks they were wrong, and he doesn’t think he deserved to be in here either. Does quackity deserve to be tortured for what he’s done? Sam doesn’t really say anything to that, just asking Dream what he’d gain. So Dream says “ok so you think tortures alright as long as your gaining something?” Sam says that no When Quackity was torturing Dream it was a means to an end, they weren’t having fun. (But Quackity was, Sam said he was excited, so yeah not really Sam.)
Dream asks Sam what Quackity would have done with the revival book. Sam doesn’t know, but if Quackity got it then Sam got it, and maybe others too. Dream says he thinks Quackity would keep it to himself, revive Schlatt. Dream tries to convince Sam that Quackity wouldn’t have shared it with him, that Sam is alone.
Dream realizes they’re not getting anywhere, and that they both just have different views on people. Dream says his view is that everyone is a good guy in their own story, and a bad guy in someone else’s. Dream says he thinks he’s a good guy in some people’s stories, maybe Techno’s. In Wilbur’s mind Dream is a good guy cause Dream brought him back to life. Dream says he knows he’s a terrible guy in some people’s mind and stories. That Sam is a good guy in some people’s stories, but a bad guy in others. “That’s just how it works.” “Everyone is selfish, everyone does things for their own self-interest.” Yes Dream did bad stuff, but he does it for what he thinks is the greater good, and that's what Sam does too.
Sam tries to argue that if he told people his reasoning people would understand and not view him as a bad guy, and Dream tells him that's not how it works. That look Sam has explained why he tortured Dream, but that doesn’t make it ok. That thats not how the book works, that you don’t just get the book and people never die. (this part kinda confused me.) Dream says it’s not, that if he dies the book dies with him. (Dream is the revival book now remember.) Sam thinks it’s a good reason to torture Dream, but from Dream’s pov it’s not, and no explanation will make him think it’s ok. That he knows they would have killed him if he gave the book, that Sam can deny it now, but that's not what Sam was saying the other day and other times. That all Dream did was plead for his life. But Dream understand, if he was in Sam’s position he’s try to get the book too, but the difference is that he’d admit it was wrong.
“In our world you have to do bad things, you have to be a bad guy. Otherwise you die. You get killed. You end up dead.”
Sam then finally starts to admit that Dream is right. “All of the bad things that people are doing are just a means to an end, that people are doing. But from their perspective it’s not bad things, they’re necessary things.” But sometimes there’s just no reason behind right? That there have to be people who do bad things just to be bad, that don’t gain anything. But maybe not, maybe it’s all just perspective...
Dream then agrees and says if he hadn’t killed Tommy, they wouldn’t have know the revival book worked. Dream things that reasoning is enough for the greater good. (But remember manipulation! He already knew the book worked, he tortured Lazer and Vikk. He just wanted Tommy to suffer.)
Sam argues that ok he gets it, but it didn’t need to be Tommy, it could have been someone else. But Dream just says “How do you choose? it’s opportunity, I was locked up in a prison cell.”
It’s quiet for a moment and then Sam asks Dream if he knows what happened that Day, when Tommy got trapped. Dream says he does know, that it was Ranboo. (Yay he said it!) Sam asks why, and how did Dream know? Dream says it’s better Sam doesn’t know.
Dream argues that there is a way that both he and Sam can walk out of this prison. Sam asks really? Would there be something he could do so Dream would let him walk out without killing him? Dream say he will, but first he needs two things. 1. He needs Sam to accept that he’s a bad guy. 2. He wants the keys to the prison.
Dream says he wants to make the prison his home, that he’ll give Sam time to think. Dream says he gets the keys, Sam admits he’s bad but that's ok because everyone else is, then Dream will set him free. Dream is just going to live in the prison, because there’s no better place. That's it, he’s just going to live here, no locking people up. That the only type of person he’d lock up is a person without reason, someone truly evil. “Cause you can do bad things with reason, but people that have no reason, that just do bad things, and are just doing it cause they like it. They’re evil.”
So Dream leaves, tells Sam to give it a ponder. He only wants the keys, no malicious reasons, just make it his base. “Turn it from bad memories to good ones.”
And so Dream leaves, and Sam finally enters into, acceptance.

DREAM SMP | I'm going to be free. Feb 4, part 5
Sam stars stream and is holding a clock, preparing for when Dream comes and trying to think. Dream wants him to give him the keys to the prison, is it a good idea? Dream Said he wouldn’t lock people up, but...
Dream enters and comments on how Sam never finished his cake. Sam says he wanted to save it for when Dream showed up, save it and celebrate his freedom. Dream asks if he’s ready to leave, and Sam says yes he wants to.
Sam says he has thought about Dreams proposal, and asks again for clarification that Dream only wants access to the prison, so he can use it as a house. Dream says yes, but also he may lock someone up, only if it’s someone truly evil. Sam then says, “Well yeah, not someone likes us, but someone truly evil.” (Us, he said us. Dream has really gotten to him.)
Sam says he understand Dream wanting a cool base to not have his things stolen, a safe place. There is also lots of space. So Sam asks if he would have access to the prison? And Dream says no, only Dream will have access. And Sam says he guesses he understands. They’ll go their separate ways. Sam ask Dream what he should do if people ask about the prison though, or want to lock someone up? Dream says that if that happens Sam can come talk to Dream. That people should believe if Sam says the prison is out of commission, because why wouldn’t it be, Dream escaped, Sam is trying to be done with it. Its out of commission, but there and ready for the future if needed.
Dream asks again if Sam’s ready, is he ready to give him the keys, and Sam says he just wants to get out, so that's a yes.
Sam then asks Dream how they’re going to get out though, and Dream supplies him a fire res and a pearl, and so they start making their way out of the prison. Dream says he’s watching Sam though, so Sam better not try anything. Dream calls then friends, and Sam says yeah, not denying it.
While getting out Sam starts to breath more heavily in relief that he’s going to be free, and Dream keeps peppy him on that “yeah! you’re going to be free!” Dream also asks if Sam needs anything food, anything, and gives it to him. (classic manipulation.)
Dream then asks Sam to lead him to the keys, and so Sam takes them to the guard room, saying he needs to get something from his enderchest first to get the keys, and is that ok? Dream says sure, he pulls out his axe and says he’ll just be watching him. Sam pulls out a book and gives it to Dream, the keycard reset book. Now Dream can make and reset the keycards as he pleases. But that this is the only reset card, so after Dream uses this, if he looses the other keycards he won’t be able to make them work again.
Dream does the card activate thing and gets the new keycard, then says he wants to test it so Sam begins taking him on a semi tour while leading Dream somewhere to test it. They test it on one of the doors. Dream asks if he can make more keycards, and Sam says only he can since they need his signature, but he could do that for Dream if Dream wanted.
Sam then continues his tour of the prison (It’s so great to finally see ^-^) He explains to Dream that Some of the keycard ports are different, and that Dream needs to pay attention tot he time because every midnight the cards reset and Dream needs to get the new one in time. They tour, joke a bit. Sam says well at least Dream is getting what he paid for now. As they make it to the front it is more broken up from Techno’s tnt, Sam is sad about all his hard work. Sam shows off one area with stasis chamber that he changed after the Ghostbur incident, to make sure no one could follow him.
They finish up going over things, Sam mentions some other places like an office where he kept books, and then Dream asks if there’s anything else? Sam is confused, and Dream says that he was just asking if there is a user manual or something for the prison, and Sam says that he is the user manual. Sam explains how the exit to the prison works, and offers to just show Dream, it’s right there, and then he can leave. Dream says sure.
Sam says he can do this and then they can go their separate ways, but Dream stops him saying that's going to be a bit of a problem. Sam backs away and asks what? And dream says “You said that I’d let you leave, I will let you leave..” Dream has out his axe and it’s pretty obvious what hes sayin ‘I’ll let you leave, but not before I take your life.’ Sam asks him to stop, he already gave Dream all the info about the prison, but Dream expresses he is still mad at Sam for having him locked up, fed raw potatoes, and tortured.
Sam says it was all Dreams idea (which again Sam you didn’t have to follow Dream’s plan but I get why you did. You saw it as karma.)
Dream says he has mercy though. So he’ll let Sam leave, but first he’ll kill him. “I didn’t say I’d let you go without some scaring.” Sam can go and be free but be an example for people not to mess with Dream.
“You don’t have to do this” Sam says, Dream says he does. “If you do this people will know. People will know you’re here. People will know you killed me.”
Dream says what is Sam going to do, tell them, and Sam says yes of course. Dream is humored by this and says “No you won’t” And even if Sam did what are they doing to do? Dream has the fortified prison, he’s got the keys. Sam says he will though, he’ll try, he’ll get people to listen and help. Dream says well good luck then, I’ll just hunt you down without mercy. Dream says he’s not afraid to hurt him, take all his lives. Why not give him a matching scar with Quackity, axe to the face?
Sam says pls no, you don’t have to, but Dream says he does, and so he kills Sam.
And so the screen fades to black.

And that was streams one through five of Sam’s time locked in the prison. What is next for him? Eret still wants to kill Sam, Techno and Tubbo might not like him out of prison, but maybe they’ll have understanding.
Sam did not mention or use his other bodies.... So I can’t wait for whenever we can get more explanation on that.
Sam got really destroyed in these Streams. He had to come to the realization that just cause he thinks he has a good reason or outcome, that doesn't make his actions good. He messed up. He can be a good guy that does bad things, but to be that he needs to admit that they were wrong.
We got a lot of manipulator Dream, so much like exile. I love watching and trying to distinguish Dreams words when he’s like this, but I also hate how the audience is always so split on what going on and what's true. When people actually fall for Dreams words, or they don’t know the history of the smp and so just fall for and believe him. (I guess I might be a bit of a c!Tommy apologist XD that see’s his errors but hates when people don’t understand them and so label him the villain.)
I gotta say my favorite part of this was Dream trying to get Sam out of denial, and all the talk about good and bad, how they’re all their own good guy in their story but not in senone else’s. That's what I’ve been saying and what I love about the smp. I don’t see heroes and villains, black and white, but shades of grey that do things for reasons.
Sam has now lost his first Cannon life to Dream. He was manipulated by Dream and we don’t know how much of that will stick with him now having been killed. We don’t know what he’ll do next. If people will believe or trust Sam.
People who are Sam’s friends... I think Boomer and Puffy are the closest he’s got. Hannah is in the spectrum, maybe Conner. I don’t know if he and Sapnap are on good terms. So there are still some people he can turn to for support, but also a lot of people that don’t trust him anymore.
Dream is a liar of course, so I wonder what his plans are. Is he going to trap Tommy in the prison for real now? If you watch other streams we’ve seen Dream antagonizing people. Mainly BBH, he gave skeppy a totem, and gave Eryn some materials. So currently he’s just running around, but what could he be planning?
Sam’s dead and we just have to wait and see what happens next.
