Karl the mad hatter of time something I'm making for a lore au
Also
You know I've mentioned this au a lot but never explained it so small expo
When the original smp had ended I had an idea that what if instead of getting rid of the original universe I would take the ending of the dsmp and simulate it into the new lore
So essentially everything got reset after the server exploded and this was from karls time travel it put everything back to square one with minor differences that's why how characters look or behave and even there name has been changed a bit
Examples
C!Willbur name was changed to illiad (yes it is a reference to The Iliad)
C!Dream was changed to dreamspindle also is a push over (that not the reason they become a villain)
Tommy's a scruggly and there is not a thought between those big blue eyes (aka the only difference is he's annoying cuz he is constantly asking stupid questions)
In this comic most of the characters look the same the only difference is Fundy is purple now
He's biased on these little guys
Most of the story is going to take the original lore that was known at the time and build on top of it
That's why it's called the lore expansion because it's expanding on the original lore of the server and expanding on arcs
Ranboo’s character is deeply intertwined with Tommy’s and I feel we should talk about it.
EXTENSIVELY. (Particularly with the Discs)
So I did that.
Spoilers ahead for pretty much all of C!Ranboo’s story arc
So from the beginning Ranboo and Tommy establish a connection, Ranboo’s introduction into the main story is through Tommy. This wild but sweet boy who just wants someone to spend time with him. As loud and abrasive as Tommy can be, Ranboo is the first to recognize his softness and genuine desire to help people. So they steal from George, accidentally burn down his house, Ranboo gives him the allium, and history is made.
Now Ranboo meeting Tommy at this time is really important because of how different Tommy is after Wilbur’s death. Tommy is highly insecure and was constantly seeking validation. Now the person he was seeking that validation from is gone and as a result Tommy becomes a little more honest in his grief. When the exile talk starts, Tommy openly admits how scared he is of losing Tubbo and their friendship and his worries on what being president would do to Tubbo.
And Ranboo listens. While Tubbo at the time is just seeing another problem he has to drag Tommy out of, Ranboo is one of the few who acknowledges how unfair the situation is and sees that Tommy needs help, not a reprimanding. Ranboo doesn’t just let Tommy take the blame, he admits his own fault and points out why he isn’t receiving a punishment.
Ranboo sends letters to Tommy while in exile (until those letters get intercepted by Dream). Tommy starts to doubt their friendship, Ranboo reassures him and even keeps track of Tommy’s state in his memory book. In fact, ranboo’s memory book is HOW Dream finds out Tommy is staying with Techno.
Then there’s Enderwalk’s involvement with Dream, burning the community house which Tommy is blamed for, keeping a hold of the disc Cat. Even during disc confrontation / Final Waltz, Enderwalk sides with Tommy (though that may have been planned). He’s also the one who set the explosives off near pandora’s vault and got Tommy trapped in the cell with Dream.
But when Tommy dies, both Ranboo and Enderwalk grieve for him. Ranboo flies into a guilty rage against Sam, questioning his pseudo guardianship, preparing and planning to kill Dream. I half suspect his marriage to Tubbo might have also been out of guilt for Tommy. He admits that he should have stayed with Tommy more, protected him more. Now that Tommy is gone, maybe Ranboo can do that for the person he cared about most: Tubbo. (Bonus being when Ranboo found out Tommy had kept the original allium after they stole from George.) Not to mention, despite Enderwalk’s involvement in Tommy’s death, he’s the one who plants flowers outside of Tommy’s home. He leaves the allium on his doorstep and sits there for hours. And I think it’s important to specify that Enderwalk isn’t a second personality or different person, he is described as “Ranboo with all his memories.”
Then when Tommy gets revived, Ranboo is one of the few who is openly ecstatic. Offering him even more flowers, inviting him to live in the Snowchester mansion, and still actively planning to murder Dream. When Tommy finds about his marriage to Tubbo, Tommy is highly possessive and jealous of BOTH of them. Tubbo is his childhood best friend, his closest companion, the safe place he’s never had to share before. But he’s also upset because Ranboo was HIS friend, his confidant, and now he’s Tubbo’s husband? Does that mean he’ll no longer be loyal to Tommy? He feels replaced on both sides and Ranboo is the first to reassure him that their friendship still holds and he has no intention of taking Tubbo away from him. He wants to make sure the two never have to be separated again.
Even in Hitting On 16 and the whole Wilbur vs Q arch. Ranboo decides to give Wilbur a chance because he recognizes some of their shared traits and feelings. Particularly regarding Tommy. Their shared admiration and desire to protect him, yet also guilt that they’ve failed to every time.
Pretty much everything Ranboo does, his character, his story, it all revolves around Tommy. Ranboo’s guilt and devotion. Even when Enderwalk is working with Dream, it’s all about Tommy.
Now, I mentioned way up at the top, but there’s HEAVY disc symbolism with Ranboo. Enderwalk is the one who has Cat during Tommy’s exile, hiding it and keeping hold of it before eventually delivering it to Dream. Meanwhile Ranboo ends up connected to Mellohi. When he goes to confront Dream after his imprisonment, it’s the sound of Mellohi that draws him away. He hallucinates it in the panic room until he has a break down. We later learn this scene was a dream, but I think Ranboo hears Mellohi again later. I just don’t remember when. Isn’t it interesting that the two sides of Ranboo each get associated with one of Tommy’s discs?

Can we talk about how cool C!Tommy’s association with religion and DreamXD is?
Spoilers ahead for DSMP and Tales of the SMP
So this originaly started with Tommy and Dream building Church Prime as sort of a joke, a reference to Twitch Prime. But it ends up becoming a serious religion and a part of the lore. The church is rebuilt into something grander and it’s referenced in tales of the SMP in Wild West meaning it’s been around for several decades at the least. While Tommy inventing the religion was retconned, he’s still the one who brought the religion to the main DSMP in present time.
Now as the series goes on, Church Prime and its religion becomes connected to DreamXD, where he becomes the central god (and even in the pantheon of the divine characters in DSMP, XD appears to be the strongest with Drista as a close second.) Worshipping “Prime” is the same as worshipping XD, he’s just under a different name. And we know this because of the Eggpire arch. We know XD and his church are an active force against the Egg, the two entities have an antagonistic relationship and the Egg, when it hatches, is implied to be as powerful or even more so than XD. Hence him constantly resetting the world to thwart the Egg, and why the Egg remembers those resets.
The church is a safe haven against the corruption, those who are under the Egg’s control seem to avoid the place or are unable to enter. The holy water can cleanse the Egg’s corruption of both people an items, and hazmat suits provided by the church can ward off the Egg’s effects.
Now how does all the Egg stuff tie back into Tommy? Well, Tommy is one of two people who are immune to the Egg’s effects. The other one being Foolish, who we know XD sees as a pet. XD was also the one to gift Foolish his powers, immortality, and presumably his immunity to the Egg. Though Foolish does lose that immunity after he dies, I wonder if that also has to do with him falling out of favor with XD. As in the finale Foolish stands against him and XD threatens to revoke the powers he gifted foolish.
And then there’s Tommy, the other character with complete immunity. But he NEVER loses it. Even after a perma-death and getting revived. Isn’t it interesting that the character who established the church is the one who remains unaffected? It makes me wonder if Tommy in some weird way has ended up blessed by XD even if he doesn’t know it. Tommy in undoubtably special, not just because he’s the main character.
I also wonder if this could tie into why there’s no other version of Tommy in Tales of the SMP. Through all of TOTSMP we see past and future / alternate versions of nearly every single one of the characters, even Phil! Who’s been alive for thousands of years. I’m not sure if this is purely time travel on Karl’s part or if he’s flipping through alternate resets, hence why we have a different version of Phil despite Phil probably still existing at the time— but, nonetheless, why is there no other version of Tommy???
Tommy is the single most influential character in the DSMP, so it feels like such a purposeful exclusion not to have a single other version of him in NINE EPISODES. Why is our Tommy the only one to seemingly ever exist? He was supposed to be in space race but the episode was cancelled so I’m not counting it. The only other time we see Tommy in a reset is AFTER the finale. So is our Tommy just the first? This anomaly that never happened before? Maybe that’s why both XD and Dream seem to have such a fascination with him?
And that’s not where this religious connection ends cause now we can get angsty with it. XD vs Dream. What’s going on there? As far as I know they are two separate entities and Dream isn’t even aware of XD outside of the revivebook. They appear to look and sound alike so who is Dream to XD? I’ve seen various interpretations, like Dream being Drista and XD’s sibling but he somehow lost his godhood. But how I imagine it is Dream is XD incarnate, a mortal counterpart that XD uses to monitor the mortal realm and puppet. Because XD tells Foolish that it’s hard for him to interact with the mortal realm outside of dreams.
And this is where the angst kicks in: exile arch. The absolute heartbreaking concept of Tommy being tortured by a mortal incarnate of the God he worships and built a church for?? I need more content about this.
