Jiang Cheng becomes ill fairly early on, and worries his siblings sick (and almost results in Nie Huaisang leaving the Unclean Realm to stay with him, risking his own health)

Because of the above, Wei Wuxian ends up exposing that he doesn’t have a core because he insists on seeing his little brother (so he’s immune to the disease!) Wei Wuxian then proceeds to tackle most of the big nighthunts mostly alone since he might as well be useful! (He may or may not end up with a gaggle of curious children who he may or may not end up teaching, since it’s hard doing all of this on his own, but he only cracks once they bully him into it lmao, since...honestly? While Demonic Cultivation is dangerous as hell...it doesn’t form a golden core so they are also immune to the disease and it can be learned fairly easily with Wei Wuxian explaining. it took him three months to INVENT so how long could it take to learn?)

Lan Wangji does not like Wei Wuxian going off on his own, especially since they haven’t been married very long and he always wants to go “where the chaos is” but no, he has to stay home because of his high cultivation level. However he helps Wei Wuxian with whatever he needs on his (semi-frequent) returns to Cloud Recesses (including playing Cleansing and Clarity for Wei Ying and his little brood of ducklings, giving him money, and even writing letters to him, usually delivered by courier, but also occasionally by Wei Ying’s crows who have adopted him as one of their own, since they will always find him...mostly for food reasons lol)

Jin Guangshan catches the disease and ends up spreading it to Jin Zixuan. Jin Zixuan isolates himself from Yanli and A-Ling (no decisions on how old A-Ling is yet) for their safety. He eventually recovers, but he hated the time he spent in isolation, sick and terrified of leaving his family behind

Meanwhile, his father deteriorates very quickly (Jin Guangshan has a pretty high cultivation level, after all) and eventually suffers a Qi Deviation from which he never recovers from (a very distressed Jin Guangyao tries desperately to save him, however he may or may not mercy kill his genuinely suffering father, but only after a long period when it becomes clear he’s going to die a slow and painful death where he doesn’t recognise anyone and is barely capable of concious sensible thought). Jin Zixuan never is able to say goodbye to his father, as Jin Guangshan’s funeral is held while Jin Zixuan is still ill.

Nie Mingjue is almost the second Sect Leader to succumb to the disease. He is carefully tended to, day and night by Wen Qing (though obviously she tends to everyone in the Unclean Realm but because of his already dangerous situation he gets special care, which will probably include shutting down all but the most mandatory Qi flow to prevent Deviation). Her level of devotion to her husband is one of the things that helps them become closer as a couple, it also helps discover a solid treatment
