I sent this Minecraft art request post to my friends too, asking for suggestions of Minecraft blocks/nature things/maybe even props to draw how they are in Souls of Black. And my friend @ultimatewildcard suggested mushrooms, and so I've started off with the brown mushrooms!
They're called brellshrooms in Souls of Black, due to the umbrella shape of the top of them. This is even more pronounced with the brellshroom trees, and provides decent protection from things like rain. Brellshroom trees grow only in The Dark Forest, and are one of two types of mushroom trees. The other will be based on the red and white mushroom from Minecraft, though I haven't given that one a new name yet lol.
Brellshrooms grow into trees by lots of the mushrooms overtaking and decaying abandoned dark oak tree stumps, and using those as a building point for the tree itself. It grows a few types of mushroom on it's stem, but a careful eye is needed on which ones are safe to eat!
The request post is still up and open to asks! You can send in a specific block, or a type of block (stone, moss, etc) or even props from Minecraft, and I'll draw their design and mechanics in Souls of Black!
