Edit 1/28/24: I’m swapping in Mestral now that we’ve watched some more Enterprise and I just love this guy! Sorry, Mirror Spock. For my list, I’ve gravitated towards characters just doing what they think is right in very very different ways. They manage to bend the logic for whatever situation they’re in, by adhering to their rational beliefs on the long journey home from the Delta Quadrant by, by adapting to life among humans when a crash landing forces their hand, and finally by scheming against the Klingons in a very elaborate plot that, hey, made sense at the time!

Chris’s picks are only logical: they’re some of the most three-dimensional Vulcans of the franchise who were really paramount in defining what the logical race was all about. We obviously see this in our very first Vulcan who wrote the book on the subject (several times), also in the consistent and complex Vulcan who sticks to every nuance of his character even while 70 years away from home, and even in the rebellious and emotional Vulcan who reminds us of their roots. Check mate.

We’ll see in Caitlin’s picks three Vulcans who have been and always will be our friends. These are characters who will go the distance for their friends and family, whether that may be by inviting them into his mostly well-meaning cult and taking their pain away, by taking in a ward whose parents were killed and teaching her the real Vulcan Hello, or by putting up with Neelix even when he’s been cooking up a storm all day. Now that’s what I call the needs of the many!

Jake’s favorite Vulcans are cornerstones of their societies, paving the way quite literally for those who come after them. We’ll start off with the literal father of Star Trek Vulcans whose marriage to a human woman formed the whole basis for the show, move along to a woman who proves to be pivotal in Vulcan history and a badass to boot, and round things off in the mirror universe with a Vulcan captain able to see his dimension for what it is and make strides to change it!
