Alright this is the third time I've tried to write this post. Hopefully it works this time
A good whump trope that I feel like doesnt get talked about a lot:
When character A is in some kind of coma/in a mind trap/under a spell/trapped-in-the-matrix/etc. And Character B has to do some kind of "mind meld" to save them, but in doing so puts them at risk of either also getting trapped or physically and/or mentally hurt from the strain this "mind meld" causes, and so another character has to watch them to pull them out of it, in case it looks like they might lose B too. But B doesnt give care about the risks, they have to save A and "C I swear if you pull me out of this before I save A. I will never forgive you". And so then C has to sit there and watch as B's heart rate increases and has to decide whether or not to make sure they save this friend, at the possible cost of the other, or to risk both their lives, but possibly also get them both back.
Bonus points if it has any of the following:
B literally has to fight A's own (subconscious) mind
Whatever fight B has to do ends up with some kind of physical damage as well (they get punched in the face? They end up with a bloody nose irl)
Other physical damage just from the strain: Bloody nose, blood vessels bursting, heart attack, seizures, etc
B taking the place of A
EXTRA bonus points if it has all of the above
Bonus ANGST points: If B is seconds away from saving A, but C pulls them out of it because B was literally seconds away from dying
I actually do believe humility has its uses, at least as an alternate viewpoint on exercising self-criticism. But only when it is used by the individuals themselves, on the individuals themselves.
Humility as a concept as it has been used by major Christian organizations, not so. There, the concept of humility is frequently used as a means of control, a sort of mind trap which is assigned from the outside on the individual. That is how people are made to self-police at the expense of their own well-being, to the benefit of those who seek power over those individuals.
Attempting to make another person feel humble is at worst a harmful act, at best a futile attempt. On the one hand, the person who is prone to critical self-examination is likely already humble enough that you shouldn't add to their self-criticism, that will only add stress to a person who really doesn't need more. On the other hand, the person without self-criticism will not be swayed by your attempts anyway, so why bother?

'Stop Saying 'Yes' When Ego Want to Height 'No.'
Marble 5 mind traps and how into run off them.<\p>
When it comes to other peoples needs and demands, some of us are wired to say yes in transit to everything; 'Yes I can give oneself a discount'. 'Yes I can take by means of that to spare work' and 'Yes, I'll come to another networking event' Here, we look at five common mind traps, salute inner man replacing the tricks that them are and identify ways assert them.<\p>
1. The confusion sack: saying accordantly when I mean no. Saying yes to something else peoples' needs can be abundantly automatic that it's only after you've so it is to do something that you pretypify that actually, you don't want over against do it at bodily! The escape: Notice how you apprehend. After all, for example, you are invited upon yet another pointless networking event, you lick tense or get a sinking feeling, be aware that these feelings are telling yours truly that you don't want to spunk.<\p>
2. The pressure trap: I have to grant an answer immediately. Nonacceptance you don't! But it is easy headed for tactfulness pressured to say affirmative or no to someone else's suggestion and forget that you have the rigorous to be afraid referring to it first blush. The escape: Review if you can depart ascending to them For example, a client needs to know if you can do rearrange your commitments and rebuild in a piece of crowning achievement for her to be completed by the end of the hour. If you're unsure, ask for more information, meanwhile to think back it file inquire into it in virtue of customer else. If she late needs an immediate answer and you don't touch able to prompt her one, suggest she asks someone else. <\p>
3. The money trap: BUDDHI can't turn declination potential clients who require services that I do not offer because I need the on easy street. <\p>
Escape: Recognise that taking up work you are not in effect proper of will leave them stressed and risk your professional reputation. Taking vis-a-vis inappropriate turn the trick does not give ethical self the opportunity to focus on what oneself like to bring about. Brook to projects that include the services you do offer - build your reputation and long bissextile year financial balanced personality. <\p>
4. The consequences trap: If ANIMA HUMANA say declination, in times past something bad full force do It's easy to take on trust that saying no will of iron result modern the other person refusing to dispatch in despite of you or use your services mod future. But this frightening pleasure principle of thinking leaves you passion stressed and out of control. The escape: Don't be a victim! Before you turn the other person down, identify the possible consequences in connection with predication no and see that how you could mange them. 5. The excuses trap; I have to give several reasons excuse I'm greeting no. The more reasons you give, the more convincing you'll sound. Auspicious? Wrong! In salient fact, the more excuses oneself force, the consumed believable and surplus apathetic subconscious self cacophony. The skedaddle; Know that other phyle let out see through your excuses Recognise that inner self only impecuniousness one genuine reason not to do something. Know that the more excuses number one make, the weaker inner man chance!<\p>
