In person, the feathers have more colours to show the iridescence, but alas, my camera does not pick up on them.

RIP Microraptor Gui🙏
You're wings would've been delicious deep fried, chinese takeout style, and served with fried rice.

Microraptor was a beautiful little four-winged dromeosaur from Cretaceous China. There were several species of dromeosaurs with four “wings,” but Microraptor is special for its well-preserved fossils. It was one of the first non-avialan dinosaurs to be discovered with the impressions of not only feathers, but wings. These impressions were so well-preserved that paleontologists could examine their fossilized melanosomes and determine that the dinosaurs were a glossy, iridescent black, similar to adult European Starlings. Some individual specimens also show evidence of bands of dark and light, which may be an indicator of sexual dimorphism, variation between species/subspecies or even individuals, or simply that the specimens were immature.
Microraptor is one of the smallest-known non-avian dinosaurs, with adults being up to 77 centimetres (2.53 ft) long, about the size of a chicken. Three species of Microraptor have been named: M. zhaoianus, M. gui, and M. hanqingi, though it is suggested that these were all subspecies of zhaoianus.
