Day 24: Memory heads
How do the memoryheads remember gaster
If any of the amalgamates where to remember the goop man it would be the memory heads. It just makes sense. haha~
But anyway, in the comic those guys are the amalgamates that Gaster actually had a hand in making. By accident as they all were.
And a little fun fact for you:
It may be hard to see depending on how/where you see the comic, but I did give each one a different color. A very slight color. One blue (right), one teal/green (top), and one magenta/purple (left).
The magenta one is also the one that Hachi, Hana's husband, ended up being a part of.
You can kind of see a bit more of him in this one (The one most to the left.)
I like to think of the memory heads as being the oldest amalgamates because of how melted/ far gone they are. So in my comic, I also put seeds all over them. Gaster was the one who was doing the experiments with the flowers in my comic. And these memory heads are the results of the "accidents" that Alphys described. Gaster had used a different ratio of Determination than Alphys did. This is also why the memory heads are pretty much just goop.
All of this just to say: The memory heads remember Gaster because of their name.
Amalgamate Dumplings
"These traditional Japanese dumplings are connected by a lattice of flour and water. In Japan, they are called 'hanetsuki gyoza', which means 'dumplings with wings'. Here, it means 'dumplings that look like they're melting together, like an Amalgamate'!"
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 lb ground pork
2 tsp minced garlic
1 large egg, beaten
1 tbsp chopped chives
1 tbsp ginger root, minced
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp soy sauce
25 dumpling wrappers
2 cups water, separated
12 tbsp potato starch, separated
8 tsp all-purpose flour, separated
8 tsp sesame oil, separated (+ more for desticking gyoza from pan)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix pork, garlic, egg, chives, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and ginger in a large bowl until combined
Place a dumpling wrapper on a lightly floured surface and spoon approx. 1 tbsp of the filling into the middle of the wrapper. Wet edge of the dumpling wrapper with a little water and crimp together, forming small pleats to seal the dumpling. Repeat with the remaining dumpling wrappers and filling
Stir together 1/2 cup of the water, 3 tbsp of the starch, 2 tbsp of the all-purpose flour, and 2 tsp of the sesame oil. Mix until well-combined, then set aside
Grease a non-stick pan and place over medium-high heat. Cook 5 gyoza in a circle until their bottoms are golden brown
Flip the gyoza over so the browned bottoms all face up. Stir the flour slurry again and pour into the pan around the gyoza dumplings, just enough to cover the gaps between them
Turn the heat down to low and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for approx. 5 min or until the dumplings' wrappers become a bit translucent. Remove the lid and continue to cook until the liquid in the slurry evaporates
Drizzle sesame oil around the edges of the gyoza. Carefully push the pan back and forth to loosen the dumplings without breaking the film around them. If there is trouble releasing, use chopsticks to run down the edges to help loosen it, then continue moving the pan back and forth until the gyoza and film break away
Place a plate upside-down over the pan, then flip the pan over so the they are all together on the plate. Repeat with the remaining gyoza and ingredients in batches until you've used them all. Serve while still warm
"Dumplings" - Heals ??? HP. "Everyone that had fallen down... has woken up. They're all walking around and talking like nothing is wrong. I thought they were goners...?"
Bad Memory
"Tortilla chips look like screaming faces and are served with a homemade oozing, cheesy dipping sauce. Great for parties, and unbelievably easy to create. Come join the fun!"
INGREDIENTS:
6 corn tortillas
Coarse salt (for seasoning)
Neutral oil, for frying
(For sauce)
12 oz evaporated milk
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 cup white american cheese, chopped
1/2 cup colby jack cheese, chopped
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 jalapeno pepper, seeds removed, diced into very small pieces
EQUIPMENT:
Large circle-shaped cookie cutter
Medium circle-shaped cookie cutter
Small circle-shaped cookie cutter
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut as many large circles out of the corn tortillas as possible. Cut three circles into the large circles: one medium circle near the bottom and two small circles at the top (this will create a "face" with a mouth and two eyes). If desired, keep the scraps of your tortillas to make more weird-shaped chips
Arrange chips in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 5 min., or until just dried out (but not browned or crispy). Remove from oven, then reduce oven heat to 200°F
Pour a little oil into a medium skillet to a depth of 1/4 inch and heat to 350°F (use a thermometer for more accurate results)
Place a handful of tortilla faces/shaped into the hot oil in a single layer (try not to overlap them!) so that oil is on all sides of them
Fry approx. 2 min., or until the chips are lightly browned and are no longer pliable. Move finished chips to paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with salt to season. To keep warm, move back to baking tray (once drained of excess oil) and place into oven until ready to serve
To make the sauce: in a saucepan over medium-high heat, warm the evaporated milk. Whisk in the cornstarch, then bring to a simmer, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Just as it begins to simmer, reduce heat to low
Gradually add cheeses, bringing heat to medium as you add them. Whisk the entire time to avoid burning or clumping
Once cheese is melted, smooth, and creamy, add the jalapeno pieces, butter, chili powder, and salt. Whisk to combine well and disperse the jalapeno pieces. Serve with your screaming tortilla chips and keep warm (if the sauce cools, it can easily be microwaved for 30 sec and stirred to smooth it again)
"Bad Memory" - Hurts 1 HP. "You threw the Bad Memory away. But it came back."

We never talk about the 3 skull shaped amalgamates or the fact that they are literally connected to their phones/ communicate threw them. Or about how Papyrus will answer his phone no matter what time it is or what he’s doing.
What if he’s waiting for a very specific call about a very extended vacation is all i’m saying.
* ALRIGHT...
* Knowing that there’s a plan to stop these creatures fills you with DETERMINATION.
Despite everything people have found relating to Gaster, I haven’t seen anyone point out his possible connection to the Memory Heads.  Their attack bears a weird resemblance to his face, and they’re the only amalgamate I can’t figure out the components of.  I’m pretty sure that when you go around talking to the NPCs post-Asriel fight, you can’t find them?  Even though they’re included in the credits where it says the amalgamates are living w/ their families.
If anyone has any more information about the Memory Heads, could they please tell me?
