I know most deer are vegetarian but, I don't like the taste of most herbs or plants actually. Only mint and a few other ones.

XG1: It was about to reach for something, but it gets startled and runs to the back corner of the containment cell, despite it not really being a hiding spot, as the automatic feeder comes online, sweeping out the old bowl and putting in three new ones that have veggies, meat, and fruit respectively.

[They don't speak, instead they pull a handful of cards out of their lab coat, holding them up to display pictures to the alien]

[The pictures look like food items. It's a set of educational flashcards for small children. They're trying to figure out what the subject would prefer to eat]

[A few additional cards poke out of their coat, pictures of bread and cheese and processed foods. They don't think the creature will recognize those as food]

XG1: It tilts its head from side to side as it looks at the pictures and blinks at the cards, then at them. Then paps the glass with its whole paw.

It seems it does not understand the flash cards… Or perhaps the food in the dimension it came from looks very different.

“Is that what you longed for?” Dana teased as Harlow wrapped her arms around her waist. “The attention and comfort of a princess?”
