The Philadelphia Cheese Steak The famous tastes of a Philly cheese steak are combined with the comfort of a grilled cheese sandwich in grilled cheese. Between slices of buttery bread and melted provolone cheese are tender ribeye steak, caramelized onions, and green bell peppers. This makes for a rich and filling meal.
Ingredients: 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced. 8 slices of bread. 8 slices of provolone cheese. 4 tablespoons of butter. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan over medium heat. Slice the green bell peppers and onions and add them to the pan. For about 8 to 10 minutes, or until softened and slightly caramelized. Take it out of the pan and set it aside. Season the ribeye steak slices with salt and pepper. Season the steak slices and cook them in the same pan for about two to three minutes on each side, until they are browned and done. Take it out of the pan and set it aside. Each piece of bread should have butter on one side. Cover four slices of bread with a slice of provolone cheese. Put some cooked steak slices on top of each cheese slice. Then add some sauted onions and green bell peppers. Add another slice of provolone cheese on top of the steak and vegetables. Then, put the rest of the bread slices on top, buttered side out. Over medium-low heat, grill each sandwich for three to four minutes on each side, until golden brown and the cheese melts. Take it out of the pan when both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted. Let it cool a bit before serving. Make diagonal cuts in the sandwiches and serve them hot.
