I'd like to see your opinion about the teen girls, specifically Kazuha x Ran or Masumi x Ran.

Ooo I do love mixing and matching the teen girl squad. This was my first Ran pairing and my current (main) Ran pairing, which isn't to say I like KazuRan less, I just prefer Masumi x Ran (MasuRan?? what even is their ship name).

I don't want to torture you, so no shinran. I'd say Akemi/she who shall not be named, but I think she's lately fallen out of favour. Hmmmm. I'm sure you'll have funky opinions about ran/masumi, so how about that-

I’m living on the edge so I’ll answer both Masumi x Ran and Akemi x Azusa

First, MasuRan

1. What made you ship them?

The simple answer: I’m a sucker for power couples (see AkAm) and while Masumi x Ran doesn’t have quite the same flavor as other ships (again, see AkAm), the idea of them being badass girlfriends who can and will fight anyone was too good not to ship them.

I also just want to save Ran from Shinichi, and considering Masumi has had a couple of lines that imply she has a crush on Ran… :)

2. What’s your favorite thing about the ship?

Masumi being completely ride-or-die for Ran is peak Akai family simp behavior, and I’m honestly here for it.

3. What’s an unpopular opinion you have on the ship?

Somewhat related to the second question, Masumi and Ran would be switches. Mostly because Masumi is too much of a simp for Ran for me to believe that she would always be a top.

Now for Akemi x Azusa

1. What made you ship them?

Boredom and sleep deprivation, mostly.

2. What’s your favorite thing about the ship?

They could exchange embarrassing stories about AkAm and add to the suffering they (meaning AkAm) so very much deserve 💕

3. What’s an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

I think the fact that I ship them could be considered an unpopular opinion in and of itself. Also, that everyone should ship them because I want to add “ship connoisseur” to my resume. Maybe then someone will hire me.

That lesbian owns my heart. And... Gosho himself could knock on my door and inform me that she’s supposed to be straight and I would laugh in his face. She is just so gay. (Which, by the way, I actually doubt he would. Because... Sera has been in this show since over 400 episodes ago and she still doesn’t have a heterosexual romance? That actually reads so gay in a narrative that literally pairs every teen as compulsively as DCMK does...?)

There was nothing heterosexual about her first encounter with Ran - and no, the “haha, joking” doesn’t... that’s... That’s what you say when your crush reacts weird to your confession. That’s not... something someone actually jokes about.

This is not how you deliver a joke. And look at Ran’s blush.

Sometimes, there is just this one singular moment that you know that you have just unlocked an actual OTP; an actual “this is it this will be this character’s ONE true pairing I have finally found it” (which happens rarely for me as a multishipper). And that’s it. That’s the moment. And I’ve been looking for a Ran ship for a while, because she is important in Shinichi’s life and I would like to see her romantically happy to but no one’s ever really... clicked, for me, with her. And then Sera came in like that, after actually going head to head with her and it was epic and just yes please.

Also it doesn’t help how much her introduction reminds me of Haruka’s on Sailor Moon - the tomboy who got mistaken for a guy and as long as the “straight” girls thought that they were actually kinda smitten. Also doesn’t help that HaruUsa was my first big Sailor Moon ship and is still my second favorite pair in that series; such parallels only make me love this more.
