Why is it that in the Detective Conan anime, when it comes to the episodes I've seen, Conan's thoughts are narrated by an older sounding actor compared to Conan's voice actor, but Haibara's thoughts aren't narrated by an older sounding actor and still sound like a child?
So! I have asked the people on our discord (link in our header) — and here's what we've got:
Some Question about which version you're watching? Most discord server members are used to a version where Conan's voice and Inner Narration are the same — including the Japanese Original.
Apparently the Catalan Dub changes both Conan and Ai's voices for the inner narration! And also has them using their adult voices with eachother?? With real old person sounding voices... Questions on the physics/biology of that. 🤔
Someone remembers when Haibara got the antidote, she still had the same voice when Shiho Miyano.
One interpretation is that women's voices don't change as much as men's over puberty, and since all voice actors are generally adults, with women voicing young boys, changing voice actor to indicate a change to an adult voice is only really needed for male characters?
