I don’t feel like I am very good at makeup, but its something I work on being better at. Growing up, I was not allowed to wear any make up until like high school, and even then it was just mascara? Knowing what I know about make up, that is so basic and minimal. But I thought girls who wore make up, were not such “good girls”? I know the irony of that statement, as good girls are supposed to be more freakish since they couldn’t be otherwise. This is a strange day and age to be a natural born woman.
I love all things Marilyn Monroe, she was/is amazing and inspiring as a woman to me. Whoever thought they could just put her face on a product and it would sell, they were right. I eventually found the Marilyn Monroe makeup line from Hard Candy. I like Hard Candy as they are a good price point, but have “crazier” colors like purple (as I play with Color Magick with my makeup too). But usually well made products too. But what is great about this line, is that its very close to what she actually did. Like her actual diet and some of the tricks from her makeup person.
In researching and gathering links to create this post, I realize I have more than what is listed but not everything. I check the makeup section every time I am in walmart as its hard to find any of the collection. Let’s jump in...

Behind the mask: lip treatment
Starlet glow dry shimmer oil (Cheeks)
Silverscreen pallete: face powder
Silverscreen pallete: blush powder
Silverscreen Pallete: Eye Shadow
While the set has a lot to offer, I did trade out some of the steps for non-collection stuff:
Brows: Hard Candy Brow Mask & Primer, Benefit Brow Setter
Eyes: Perricone MD No Makeup Mascara, Tori Belle Magnetic Falsies
Lips: Bite by Liplab Custom Lipstick,
It was a different look than my normal look, where I would of had more steps from bareMinerals and added contouring and what not. But I definitely liked it. In some ways it was simpler, and trying to have a make up kit that was just one brand feels like my younger make up days where I never looked beyond the covergirl section. Days I don’t do makeup, I love the pre steps to just help me feel like I look like a million dollars (even if I don’t feel it). Have you seen this at your local walmart?
