Da qui si vede il mare infinito, e nella foschia Levanzo con Favignana, il cielo senza fine e le sue piccole nuvole che seguono il vento, In questo posto solitario, i monaci basiliani sentivano il respiro del loro Dio e comprendevano l’amore che il creatore mette in tutto quello che da lui nasce. A memoria di questo costruirono questa chiesetta perchè un segno restasse dove erano riusciti ad abbracciare Dio in tutta la sua immensità. Ora questo loro amore, lo trovo nell’azzurro denso del tuo mare, nell’azzurro sottile e luminoso del tuo cielo e comprendo, Sicilia, che non ho un amore che non sia nato da te e mi ripeto, rosario infinito che la mia anima mai dimentica, tutto quello mi appartiene e che da te deriva. Perché tu, in fondo, tra i tuoi boschi antichi e le tue spiagge infinite mi hai insegnato ad amare il mondo e qui, a lato di questa chiesetta io vedo l’infinito ed allargando le mie braccia lo stringo a me come se fosse Lei, con il suo profumo e la sua calda morbidezza umana. Ricco di tutto questo guardo l’orizzonte dove mille altre terre e mille altri popoli hanno lo stesso amore che tu hai, che tu dai e che io ho per te e mi chiedo perché questa pace che qui si prova, non possa essere di tutti, perché nella natura dell’uomo non c’è la quiete di questo mare e la bellezza di questo cielo a guidarne il cuore. Qui, da questa piccola chiesa su questa piccola isola, come gli antichi monaci con il loro Dio, abbraccio l’infinito ed in silenzio penso a tutti coloro che questa pace vorrebbero, ma che non hanno,che non sanno e dentro me, per loro, scrivo parole che sanno di sale come le lacrime, e di luce come la speranza.

From here you can see the infinite sea, and in mist Levanzo with Favignana , the endless sky with its small clouds following the wind. In this lonely place, the Basilian monks  from here heard the breath of their God and understood the love the creator put into everything that is born by him. In memory of this, they constructed this little church because a sign remained where they were able to embrace God in all its immensity. Now this love,  I find in you, in the dense blue of your sea, in the shinning and bright blue of your sky and I understand, Sicily, that I have no love that was not born from you and I repeat, infinite rosary that my soul never forgets, all that belongs to me and which comes from you. Because you, in the end, among your ancient forests and your endless beaches have taught me to love the world and here, at the side of this little church, I see the infinite and widening my arms stretch it to me as it is my lover, with her scent and warm human softness. Rich of all this, I look at the horizon where thousands of other lands and a thousand other peoples have the same love that you have and to you give and that I have for you, so I wonder why this peace that is here can not be of everyone because in the nature of Man does not have the quiet of this sea and the beauty of this heaven to guide his heart. Here, from this small church on this small island, I embrace the infinite and in silence I think of all those who would like this peace but who do not have and who do not know and inside me, for them, I write words that have the taste of salt, like tears, and the taste of light, as the hope
