the usa men's hockey team thing sux cause yeah it's just sports or whatever (i say as a sports liker) but it's a big bullhorn reminder of something that has haunted me ever since i realized it: many men will be nice to you, pretend to be your friend, and then the SECOND it's only other men around they drop the act and reveal (and joke about! and relish!) what they assume every other man knows--that they don't think women* are really people at all.
