A favourite dynamic of mine:

One thing I’m realizing that I really enjoy about Hollanov as a ship is that if you’re playing true to character it is very hard to make one the “man” or the “woman.”

Ex. 1: Shane’s a sub bottom but that boy brings home the bacon. He buys fucking real estate. He drives the damn car. It is his cottage they go to. That’s explicitly a masc dude thing. He’s also markedly less effeminate than Ilya and really only cares about fashion to the extent he doesn’t look like a doofus when he goes outside.

Ex. 2: Ilya’s a dom top and destined to retire first to live out his best life as a house husband. Mr. I Express My Love Through Gifts and Acts of Service and It Has Never Once Been Enough aches to be domesticated. He serves cunt on a catastrophic level. He’s catty and bitchy and (potentially according to Twitter) has an incredibly clockable gay accent in Russian.

He’s also Captain Repression to Shane’s If I Don’t Let The Tears Fall I’m Not Technically Crying.

These two are everything. Forever unpredictable. Gay as fuck. Love them to pieces

enemies to lovers but its not "who did this to you?" but its "I did this to you" bc damn in the moment it felt necessary but the cuts weren't supposed to be that deep. the lashes should have faded by now, right? why are they still limping? make your characters self reflect. burden them with guilt and regret :) imagine laying in bed with the person you grew to love, only for them to roll over in their sleep and for you to see the nettled scars you inflicted on them
