None of y'all vigorless casuals would survive the Malenia Marika sandwich. I fucking would though. I'm built different. I would thrive in that environment

What do you think is the dynamic between Malrika? I would be happy to hear your vision (or anyone truly for that matter)!
- @vophyer
Godhood always means sacrifice, a certain separation from humanity, which makes Marika profoundly lonely. It also explains why she sends Godfrey off to get with her malesona, nobody gets her quite like another divine being, but how much does it really help with the loneliness, if Radagon is just her other self?
Malenia is the closest one to divinity, whether she ever wanted it or not. She is also a beautiful redhead, and Marika has a thing for that obviously.
From Malenia's perspective, she also suffers from isolation caused by her her involuntary approach to divinity (becoming the goddess of rot), though at that point she doesn't yet internalise it as such, and thinks her scarlet rot is just a disease or a curse. She just feels good because someone understands her pain and isn't afraid to touch her. Her attraction to her mother is enabled by Marika every step of the way, until one particularly lonely evening it just spirals out of control, and neither of them wants it to stop.
There also might be some religious aspect to it from Malenia's perspective, since she doesn't really feel like her rot makes her approach godhood. But I've never really been religious and I also can't quite describe what it feels like to sleep with a God. Surely there's some kind of reverence, a sense of purpose even? Queen-Goddess says she may indulge her impulses and kiss her with tongue, surely that's the most true anything's ever been?
So yeah it's pretty much just this: Marika shows certain affection to Malenia because she can relate to her divine sacrifice. Malenia's dysfunctional attraction is enabled repeatedly, it escalates and crosses all boundaries of acceptable. Maybe at some point Mal has doubts, but Marika's literally God, how can it be wrong to please your goddess?
The way I explained their dynamic assumed a younger Malenia, which kinda made her seem a little out of character. Malenia is a huge, powerful and intimidating swordswoman. A powerful army follows her lead, she is the strongest demigod, people fear and revere her later in life.
I bet she has this very stoic and impenetrable aura, and then she hears her mother's voice, and suddenly her shoulders relax and her voice smoothes out and her face softens, and she takes her helmet off because she knows she doesn't need to hide her face behind that gold in front of her. I think Marika just brings out her softer side
Oh 100%. in my head i like to think the blade of Miquella is a far cry from the leyndell born and raised Malenia. unlike young Miquella who was gradually deillusioned by fundementalism on his own, Malenia had to be pried off of it. and the blame... lay squarely with the mother.
I could potentially do the funniest thing by drawing something on mother's day but unfortunately i'm too sleep deprived for that.
