So this is my sister (covered her face and name for obv reasons) she doesnt identify as anything other than a woman and it’s really sad to see her (and other women) post these things so openly and never read into their feelings on it any deeper it’s just ok time to put some makeup on!! ,, >:( it’s frustrating when women lie to me with the same lies they tell themselves like we’re not the same and i haven’t told myself the same lies and have watched the women around me tell themselves those lies too. I watched my sister sink into materialism and vanity always chasing this unattainable ideal and getting ever further from the image she’s obsessed over while never stopping to think of where she got this image from? it didnt just pop into her head one day that she NEEDED to look *specific way* or else she had no real worth or value. The bare face and natural state of being for a woman is not masculine to say that is entirely contradictory.
Sooooooo a couple days ago, when I was at work, I wore dusty purple eyeshadow and matching lipstick. Looked awesome obviously. But some cigarette smelling useless jizz napkin of a person apparently thought otherwise. He decided to come up to me and say:
"You're a pretty lady, but you'd look nicer if you didn't wear so much makeup and smiled more."
Okay.
A lot to unpack there.
1) First of all, you have no idea what I look like without makeup on. I don't look bad, I look normal, but I bet you'd tell me I look tired or something. And you wouldn't be wrong because I'm a chronic insomniac who has to go to work and put up with your stupid ass. So I'm extremely, supremely tired.
2) What I wear on my face is absolutely None Of Your Business and in no world do you have the right to comment on it. I don't know you, you don't know me, therefore you don't get to say SHIT about my makeup. I hate men like this who feel the need to inform women/general makeup users that we're wearing too much makeup for their tastes. Have you considered...that my makeup has nothing to do with you? And I wear it because it's fun? Not to please you? No, of course not, because the world revolves around you and your horniness, obviously.
C) No, I'm not gonna smile cause you ask me to. I will smile when you finally get banned from my store, because not only are you misogynistic as hell, you yelled racist comments at my coworkers of colour. So yeah, you're never going to come back :)
Okay insomnia fueled rant done. Time to stay up until 7am watching medical dramas. Peace out and goodnight my peeps ✌️
as a lady the only thing I know about doing makeup "properly" is another lady puts a bunch of different liquids on her face and then rubs them in with another liquid that's supposed blend them all together and then she slaps on some fake eyelashes and I gotta tell you I'm not a fan of any of it
Sometimes I have to look in the mirror and remember that I don’t have to wear concealer every day to look pretty, I don’t need makeup to be beautiful. I have to remind myself that the reason I started wearing makeup up was for the fun colors and bold choices. Sometimes I have to skip the concealer and smear on some bright purple lipstick and way too much eyeliner and not care if people judge my acne or how I wear my makeup. I’m beautiful no matter what. And you are too. Please don’t forget that.

So unbelievably tired of nude eyeshadow and lip shades. Literally every mainstream brand nowadays is just brown and beige shades so if you want color you have to go on a hunt for indie brands that have what you're looking for, or resort to bad quality like amazon and colorpop🥲 every mainstream makeup release since 2017 has been "in the nude" "nudist" "naked" and I'm snoozing I'm dozing I'm yawning. Can we just stop. With the hype. For the Nyx Smushy Matte Balms? Please. Stop it. Why are they viral. They do not apply well. They barely show up. They are streaky and the pigment isn’t consistent.
I love Nyx but these are the biggest miss on the planet and I’m sitting here so boggled how they are so popular.
